Exactly, why not just use cht?
I have ect from the block near the oil filter. It seems to always run ~5-10 degrees below cht. I’ve found cht is a fairly good gauge of ect.

CHT is the bottom line number. It is dependent on all the subsystems. Mainly the radiator and oil cooler. We go after those systems until the steady state CHT is acceptable.
Therefore I don't care too much about the individual temps. I thought about putting in a glowshift oil temp gauge in my vent. But now that CHT remains steady at 228F after 30 min I don't think I'll bother.

I thought that one is for oil pressure? 🤔
there’s a threaded plug back just a little further that’s a great place to get coolant temp.

Oh, got it, you have added the sensor for that, right?

The calculated ECT is also within 5-10 degrees from CHT, so it seems accurate enough
