I like to disassemble things.
The human race will be extinct far earlier than predicted. That's a good thing.

I don’t know how you came to that conclusion. The car has 1,200 miles on it and it was purchased new on 1/6. It has been pushed to 155 MPH.
So you'll "never see a track or a drag strip" but would rather learn the capabilities of the car by going 155 mph on the street?

If you paid for the car you paid for a slot at the school. My point to you was based on what you said, that you wouldn't be using your car but rather the school's. Now you've said that is clear to you, your statement makes even less sense given what how fast you say you drive it when not at the track or on the strip.

And Louis, TA is not all about "learning," it is about having fun. I'm in the same bote as you, never intending to take the car to either type of track, but I'm here to tell you that TA was one of the most fun events I've ever attended and I highly recommend that you change your mind and go. You will not regret it.

I’ve decided not to go. Love my GT500 but it’ll never see a track or a drag strip.
Gotta second (or third?) what others have said.

Someone with a fair amount of track experience is not likely to learn much about technique at TA. Someone with little or no experience will learn the basics and pick up some confidence (and respect) but will not become an expert. However, I can't imagine a better environment for learning about the vehicle and yourself--safe, someone else's car, instructed by experienced experts who live in that car on that track.

I'm fortunate to have regular access to well-kept roads that have no speed limit. While cruising past police cars at 155 (or getting passed by family vans at 125) is no longer a big deal, the highway is not the place to learn my limits or the limits of the car I am driving. Charlotte is a much better place for that, and knowing the car's limits makes non-track driving all the more enjoyable.

To each his own. Just another data point for you.

Sorry, Just got on. Yes, it is Performance Blue. I got them from Bemaro Films and followed his video in applying them. As per his video, the Splitter ones I applied dry but the bumper one, I applied wet.

Life is but a series of experiences.
Categorically saying you are “not going to” or “never doing” something - when it comes to a free experience with your car is like telling the sexy flexible Russian gymnast that you don’t want to “try that because you will never do it again”…
I swear to god if I ever pan an opportunity to not try something out I have never done before - someone here find me and put me down.

Fish: Excellent comment and I imagine every reader "feels you" to one degree or another and I sincerely hope you avoid that road block. But, the future can bring unexpected surprises so I would make this friendly suggestion to not hold yourself to that promise too firmly.

As for Track Attack and Louis' choice to not attend, I truly hope he changes his mind because all that HAVE attended know, it was an unforgettable experience.

Louis: Here is a nine minute vid from my trip to Charlotte. I hope it helps to make you rethink your decision. There are two other TA clips on that channel, too.

@kilobravo - I get it - and the internet is full of @$$holes just like like me with opinions on everything... but here is my reality forged by my perception and experiences... on this topic alone.

When I bought my C7 - GM has the same sort of offer as Track Attack... thought it was a cool idea to go try it NOT for the racetrack, absolutely had no desire at all - would never race my expensive car - ever. Wanted to go only to get the wife to Vegas for her first time and to play with a C7 on the skid-pad and such... the track was somethign I wasn't interest in doing... but figured I'd try the expereince for no other reason than to say I had done it.

Result was an HPDE obsession, lots of tires, oil, harness bars, HANS, helmet, etc... had I not gone, because "I would never track my car" - I would never have been introduced to how awesome of an experience it can be and how much fun it is to do.

The successes mankind has achieved - man on the moon, bottom of the ocean, tallest building, flight, etc... not a single one has been because of a "no". That's my point about experiences - they do nothing but broaden your horizon.

I get life throws curve-balls - and my statement above is not absolute - but you don't know until you try... and the poster came here to this thread to announce he was not gonna do it - which openly invites questions and critique.

Plans changed slightly. Since the wife cannot attend anything, even the dinner, she is not coming so not making it a road trip. Fly in Thursday, fly out Saturday morning.

Very much looking forward to it just for the sake of doing something I have not done but once (Speed Vegas). Drive someone else's GT500 on the track. This time it's free though and I imagine a tad more freedom with the car albeit noting close to flat out according to many on here.

Having just been to Speed Vegas, you are going to love the Track Attack. A LOT more seat time, more technical track, plus the drag strip portion was wicked fun.

The road where I pushed the car to 155MPH is an isolated flat rural road with no curves. There are no trees in the area to block your vision. I picked a time when I knew that no other cars would be on that particular road. The last thing I’d want to do is hurt anyone.
This was a one time thing.

Totally looking forward to doing this! I attended the Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School a couple years ago and it was a blast. The only difference is it was a two day course where the first day was mostly classroom and skidpad exercises and the second day was entirely devoted to driving on the track. Either way, this sounds like a great opportunity to better understand the capabilities of the GT500 without having to worry about getting into trouble with the law. I don't think I will be able to attend the 15-16 class but looking at booking for the 1-2.
