I use Track Addict and Harry's. I seem to have better luck with Track Addict.

Track Addict:
Your setup - Go pro or phone on seat mount?
I see the phone on the windshied running your time, is that connected to the odb?

GoPro on the seat with an external mic under the rear bumper, obd to the phone on the windshield and then mixed in RaceRender. I really need a new laptop to do the pip overlay of the phone video onto the GoPro; this 8 year old Mac gets gets brought to its knees trying.

Cool, Thanks - I thought the phone and go pro were synced via bluetooth. Sounds like there is work to getting this thing together.

Are you using the MMR seat mount?

They are via wifi so far as starting and stopping the recording. You still have to match the obd values to the video. It's close, but off by enough to be noticeable. Race Render makes it pretty easy, but it can be tedious to get it just right. I've learned a trick I haven't tried yet though; once you are on the track and recording has started, give a quick beep of the horn so you have an easy audio reference to work with to sync the two videos.

Yep.

Last noob question - how are you connecting the ODB to the phone, I don't see a cable connected to the phone?

Head mount ordered, that is the exact view I want

Bluetooth. If you are on an iphone, there's only a couple that will work. If you are on Android you have some more options. Be wary of the cheap ones; some don't update very fast and there will be lag in the overlays.

I'd suggest checking Harry's Lap Timer page for compatible options (they will all work with Track Addict too).

iOS: http://www.gps-laptimer.de/compatibility/ios
Android: http://www.gps-laptimer.de/compatibility/android

I have two one for iOS and one for Android (this one also works for for updating your As Built data if you have been following that thread:

iOS - GoPoint BT1
Android - OBDLink MX Bluetooth

I found the free version of Track Addict to work well also, I'm going to try Harry's next year.

I was just reading a thread like this a day or two ago, I just used track addict for the first time this last weekend. Worked great and you get a lot with the free version even.

On another note, why do BBCode tags never work here?
I can't get them to work either.

Nice Laps!

Have any of you used Harry's Lap Timer in autocross?

At the event this weekend someone was running Harry's Latimer on a tablet. He was able to analyze his session after the run and see comparative speeds in corners with best, slowest with graph, color, etc. First time I've seen that feature on a tablet.

And here's an entirely different option... I picked up a Garmin Virbe XE last week to see how it does since it has everything built in; gps, meta data overlays, etc. All it needs is the ODB2 dongle.

A quick "highlight" vid of a really boring drive I took this weekend; this was auto-generated with the free software from Garmin. The only thing I did was add both GPS and OBD speed (on the left, stacked) and a second RPM/MPH gauge on the right. There are dozens you can choose from.

The box on the top right is where the track layout would be... I have a track day this weekend and will give this a shot and see how it does.
