When running two sets of wheels, such as track set or winter set with DD set, will the TPMS have to be retrained for each swap?

Once retrained, will the car then have no sensor faults when swapping each time afterwards?

I kept the DD wheels from my 2016 trade-in, and the TPMS works fine on my new 2019. Then I bought two pairs of take-off wheels for track days. All TPMS worked for a few days, and now both front wheels don't register. I can buy the training tool, or just ignore the fault until I swap back to DD wheels.

Also, do all 8 sensors need to be the same frequency in order to not have to retrain every time?

I've had 4 sets of wheels on my 2016. Stock, XXR 559, Project6GR Fives, and Forgestar F14. I've used factory sensors for all 3 of the aftermarket sets, and the only ones I've ever had trouble with are the Forgestars, where the amazon seller sent me a "compatible" alternate part # of sensor. The others have always worked swapping back and forth, and the car picked them up on its own, no training required.

Retraining takes about 1min with the tool. There seem to be less issues with Ford brand TPMS.

I have a couple sets and its very low drama if you use the tool after swapping wheels, otherwise they might self sync or not and error out after ~150 miles.
