So I recently found out the only station here that has 94 octane is Husky https://www.myhusky.ca/products-and-services/fuel/ isn't listed as Top Tier! https://toptiergas.com/licensed-brands/ , I emailed them and they said its because of the natural detergent ingredients. How much stock do you guys put into Top Tier / Non-Top Tier fuels from Nationally recognized energy companies? Cause not being able to use 94 kinda sucks. Especially since I'm not to savvy on the topic of Top Tier. TIA for any replies!

I don't put much stock in top tier. I think of gasoline as a solvent that cleans parts exposed to it. Gas can separate out if it sits for a long time, so I do my best to drive my car regularly. I also don't tend to use higher than the minimum octane unless it's hot outside. Right now it's snowing outside and I would feel dumb buying high octane to prevent knocking or try to extract a couple extra HP. Inlet temperatures are going to be plenty cool enough to prevent an issue with knock.

I ain't worried about cold weather, nor price of fuel, as my car hasn't seen 87/89/91 in its whole life. Just 94. I just can't find the difference/tests between natural gasoline detergents vs other types.

The detergent package is more important to your engine than the extra point or two of octane. My brother in law is a master tech for Volvo. He has seen engines that use top tier and those that don't. He always uses top tier in the highest octane available. Why don't you try a few tanks. If you do not notice any drop in performance you'll be ahead of the game.

This is just one article.

True enough bud. I emailed HUSKY to see what the say why they are not Top Tier and what the difference between Natural Detergents vs Conventional, there motto is 'Mother Nature's Gasoline'. I did switch to my 91 tune & went with Shell V-power + NItro 91 octane. Haven't really gunned it though. Still a touch cold outside.

Where I am in Ontario our only available 94 is Petro Canada which is a top tier fuel. I sometimes run Ultramar 91 (their highest) which is not top tier but only once in a while. Mainly when I'm feeling a bit cheap! I have mostly run Petro 91 as I haven't noticed anything driving wise that 94 gives me. My previous Camaro SS was tuned for 94 so I had to use that exclusively.

My main concern about fuels that are not top tier is whether they clean around the valves enough or not. I'm more concerned about that with my Gen 3 Coyote as the port injection time is limited so the chance to clean the valves is a lot less because of the DI system kicking in. On your car if you were running a catch can which it appears you are I would think the fuel cleaners would be less of a concern as it would limit oil in the intake & keep the carbon deposits down. My take on the importance of additives is how well it cleans the valve stems mainly. But the other part of me says I'm better to be safe then sorry too.

OK so after a couple tanks of Shell 91 v-power E0 (from different stations).. I dunno about the shells in other areas, but the logs showed timing getting pulled like crazy. I rechecked to make sure my 91 tune was installed, it was. I mean it's absolute garbage. I might as well have been running 87/89. Ran it out, then filled with 94 E10 from Husky. What. A. Difference. Wow. Powers back, timings back, smiles per gallons back. I'm definitely emailing shell, and gonna grab a sample of there 91. I mean it's literally retarded. Dunno why Ferrari recommends it
