OK so after a couple tanks of Shell 91 v-power E0 (from different stations).. I dunno about the shells in other areas, but the logs showed timing getting pulled like crazy. I rechecked to make sure my 91 tune was installed, it was. I mean it's absolute garbage. I might as well have been running 87/89. Ran it out, then filled with 94 E10 from Husky. What. A. Difference. Wow. Powers back, timings back, smiles per gallons back. I'm definitely emailing shell, and gonna grab a sample of there 91. I mean it's literally retarded. Dunno why Ferrari recommends it
Possibly a bad load of gas (same truck going to both stations). Could be water in their tanks (although not likely at multiple stations). Or, and this is a tough one, mixing octanes. Totally illegal of course but stations still do it. Have you spoken to the managers at either station? You should let them know how unhappy you are.

Shell is my backup if Costco is not available. I have never had an issue with their gas.

I'm thinking this is the likely scenario. Haven't talked to the managers. Figured I just email shell and avoid the middle man.

to me

Good morning,

Thank you for contacting Husky. We appreciate receiving your inquiry.

Husky’s gasoline meets all Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) standards for deposit/detergent control additives. The additives in our gasoline help keep clean valves and injectors, which results in improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. We have chosen not participate in the top-tier subscription service program for top-tier designation because our gasoline meets all appropriate standards for retailers in Canada.

Kind Regards,

Husky Customer Service

Works for me. Business as usual then with good ole 94 octane!

EDIT: still no response from SHELL.

I tend to only buy top-tier..usually Costco. Shell 93 is the only other gas I've used in the Mustang.

You look at any logs while running COSTCO? I wouldn't run it in a lawnmower. No 93 Shell in my neck of the woods.
Costco gets their gas from various suppliers across the United States and Canada. It’s possible that the supplier in your area is not up to snuff. Although with Costco I doubt it. Down here the gas is checked for octane. I’ve never had an issue with it. Same goes with my #2, Shell.

Sure have, and never had an issue with Costco...in fact, you are the first person that "I've heard" speak negative of Costco gas. It may be different in your neck of the woods :)

As someone who delivered gas for 3 years here is my 2 cents. This is only my take, and I delivered in GA,SC. Can’t speak about any others. Some gas company’s have there own fuel farms, like BP was one. Chevron,Shell etc are branded fuels. Circle K ,Costco , and mom and pop stores come out of the same tank. If it didn’t there would be fuel farms everywhere. The difference is additives. But it comes off the same pipeline. As far as water in fuel tanks go, almost all the tanks I dropped fuel in had at least a trace of water, the difference is most responsible gas stations skim there tanks regularly. The suction is usually 3 feet or so off the bottom. Water will be in these tanks it’s just a fact of the industry.

Well if COSTCO works for you guys, awesome. Here car guys/gals avoid COSTCO / COOP like covid-19. The only real thing that pisses me off is that for a agricultural province.. no pump E85 anywhere. This is what Husky said about it:

to me

Hi,

Gasoline must meet the specifications laid out by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB). While there are standards set forth for gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol, a majority of the Federal and Provincial gasoline (ethanol blended) regulations stipulate that CGSB 3.511, must be met. This standard allows gasoline to contain up to 15% ethanol content, but Husky is capping the blending at 10% to ensure that non-flex fuel vehicle’s manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements are met.

Husky gasoline contains 10% ethanol. Unfortunately, there isn't enough supply or market demand at this time to offer E85 at our Canadian retail stations. As an ethanol producer, we would like this to become a reality in the future and we continue to monitor the market.

Now how to convince them there is a significant demand for E85 here...

I know when I got my car tuned my tuner asked what sort of gas I was putting in it and told me to not put any junk from 7-11/Costco/sams club/wawa/etc (cheapest gas around type stuff) unless I wanted the car to pull lots of timing and make shit power.

I've only run Shell 93 Nitro plus whatever the fuck it is since I've had the car just because I've always preferred to use better gas in more high strung engines (hp/L and RPM being the main factors). IIRC he mentioned BP and one other company as brands to use specifically, along with the Shell I've used.
