I've been cursed at just for walking down the street in Germany
I've had a pizza virtually thrown at me in France
I've been confronted in English pubs because I was speaking an American dialect with my co-worker
I've been blasted for trying to use a credit card when the European society is heavily cashed based
In almost every conversation politics are brought up in a combative manner and I HATE talking about politics so I m not bringing it up.

The list could go on forever. I have many Canadian friends and they make sure that everyone knows they are Canadians when they travel...It's not a myth. I've never instigated a confrontation...I've never instigated a political conversation...Ive never been intentionally rude and I've never acted superior (because I'm not)....So yeah it exist and it's not in short order.
Blimey, and this started as a fun thread about Top Gear.
Lighten up man. I wonder if you may be part of the trouble.
You take no notice of my positive thread about America but instead choose to reply to the less positive thread.
Maybe you are not remembering your positive travels across Europe and lingering on the IDIOTS you get in every country

Seriously? That's unfortunate as me (OK, I'm a Canadian, but they can't tell the difference) and my friends from New York have meet just one rude shoe store owner in 30 years of travel there. As for her, you can find rude and ignorant people anywhere. But I have to ask, if not an Arms Dealer, a McDonalds employee? Or do you wear a baseball cap inside? They go ballistic over that over there. I'm truly sorry to hear that you experienced that kind of reception.

LOL..Thanks. I'm not being a sensitive baby about it. I get it but it's cliche. My real issue is when people think honest reviews are coming out of a completely biased organization like Top Gear...

Point in case - Mustang vs Exige comparison that top gear did. The Mustang vs the Exige ...are they serious. There are half a dozen better reviews that could have been conducted. One is a lightweight track car that is virtually impossible to DD is much more expensive and is British (SHOCKING)! The other is a much heavier car with four seats, a completely different engine class that's meant to be driven on the street and drastically less expensive and it's American. These cars aren't even in the same hemisphere let alone class. Top gear couldn't have tailored a more biased test for the British to trump the American mustang. I can think of a half a dozen cars that should be compared before these two cars. The bias is so obvious and they basically had to go shopping in the UK market for the UK to win instead of giving a real world and decent review.

Not trying to derail the thread and yes I've had plenty of positive travels across the EMEA. My point, which did go way off track, is that I personally don't care or trust a Top Gear review because of their clear bias. I would rather see a dozen reviews conducted before Top Gears.

Apologies for the thread derail...

Right thats it. I am going on the offensive now. Yes, I am angry
How dare you say thet Top Gear is not serious!

What about when they test drove the vans and had to out run the Police car on the top gear track.
And then there is the time they showed how you could convert a normal family car in to a Limo. James double end Alfa was a work of art!
Then there was the Motorhome conversions. Why spend thousands on a Winnibago when you can have a 3 story Citreon like Jez made
I could go on but I wont
Top Gear is a serious program and NEVER scripted or false. It is a public service

The bias is so obvious. That's the point.

Right...Like I've said before it's a comedy show for the UK by the UK. Its not a real car review show. I personally don't need to see a comedy show review of the Mustang. If you like it all the more power to you! Different strokes for different folks.

I'm bowing out..my intent wasn't to derail the thread and apologies for some of my comments about how Americans are treated in Europe being off topic.

I do. But I can weed out the important details. Those that can't, couldn't make smart purchase decision regardless... if indeed they are old enough to by a car. No different that the blinded Chevy or Ford fanboy that only reads what supports their view and is blind to the other makes advantages. Top Gear is popular, but make no mistake only the very smallest of numbers would rely on the show alone for buying advice. And those that would follow Top Gear for buying advice would read the mag. And let's face it, American cars kicks European cars arse right up till the 70's oil crisis. Their market responded properly and we got decades of crap. And of it wasn't for European, then Japanese and now Korean cars showing how it could be done we'd still be being feed crap from the big three. Just like the original Mustang the new one is European influenced. And that's a good thing.

Ha ha. Yes I remember Benny Hill!
So, I think we can say that many Americans like Top Gear but not all.
For the record tbonez3858, I sometimes get annoyed about their comparisons but I really don't give a monkeys about what they actually think of a car.
Anyone that turns on Top Gear thinking they can make a good educated new car buying decision on one of their reviews is NUTS.

Anyway
LONG LIVE AMERICA
And your AWESOME cars

I have never been so excited at the prospect of owning a car like I am the 2015 Mustang

Not a fan of TopGear. They take every opportunity to take shots at Americans they can. Almost any car that's made in the UK/Germany gets outlandishly good reviews and almost anything from America is blasted. They choose ridiculously favored tests and compare cars that are 50k apart and then slam one of the cars for having less quality... REALLY? You think the car that cost twice as much will be better quality and probably perform better.. You think a car that cost half as much might use a material like plastic to save weight while the massively more expensive car might use a more expensive material like carbon fiber...You think a car that cost half as much might not have as nice of interior....These are your legitimate complaints and your reasoning to call the half priced American product "garbage"....shocking.

What bothers me about it is that shows like TopGear get people to actually expect the mustang to be on par with cars like the m4 in terms of quality and performance. I am an old guy and in global business. Companies don't just randomly pick a price point. The price point is driven from the investments in research and materials in a car. A car that cost double IS going to be a better car or at least have so many differences that it almost makes it a completely different type of car.

Top gear is for comedy. Their head to heads and reviews are virtually worthless for their ridiculous amount of bias.
Quite honestly, they take a stab at any car they get, American or not And even if those cars are American, They, most Eurospec, are also made abroad too...Not just in the USA. I've seen some of their wacky ideas of endurance tests.. Smart 4-2 cars.. you name it.. I think they have done them all. Its fair for them to critique it just as much as we critique their own,,, Not all theirs are the greatest either... some are plagued with mechanical nightmares such as Lotus from the past though not too certain of the current ones other than having a Toyota powerplant

All kidding aside, count me in as a big fan of TopGear, Fifth Gear and Wheeler Dealers. I really get a kick out out of how they (Mike and Ed on Wheeler Dealers) get excited about 2,000 to 3,000 "Quid" (whatever the heck that means) of profit after Ed China puts in about 3 weeks of blood sweat and tears of hard labor on a car Mike spends a day or two finding. Have to believe they make a heck of a lot more money putting on the show.

You can have Wheeler Dealers if you want. I hate it! Although I do like some of the cars they do up. I would rather watch Lizard Lick Towing!
