Weather radar is pretty sweet. Actually shows your location and weather around you.

If I'm cruising at 75 on the highway, I'm not dropping a gear to accelerate.

Your comments are welcome, but if you are just here to flame. Move on to the next forum.
seems like you're just lazy. 6th gear is not meant for acceleration.

Don't like the acceleration of your car in 6th gear? Add a few hundred hp.

Sure are a bunch of smart asses on these forums. I remember when I was young and knew everything. Then I grew up and learned I didn't.
No offense Steve, but I think it's clear you have unrealistic expectations and simply don't understand transmission and gear ratios. Even in your older years.

Obviously I will just have to live with it. When I'm on the highway on a long trip I don't want to have to touch the stick. Maybe I do get a little lazy on the highway. [emoji42]
The trick is to anticipate situations where you might want livelier acceleration, and get the downshift done a few seconds in advance. Then all you have to do is squeeze into the throttle when the opportunity opens up. Don't react, predict (keep your head in the game).

There is satisfaction to be had in getting your downshifts executed so smoothly that you barely feel them at all.

If that Altima has a CVT and you've gotten used to the engine revving up faster than road speed increases, your perception even of how the car should sound when you call for acceleration has become distorted . . . even further than it would have with conventional automatic experience.

I always drive 5 over on interstate. Limit was 70. Wasn't passing anyone, was on an empty road at 4 am. Just wanted to see what top acceleration was like. How about you try dropping down 2 gears while traveling at 75. Tell me how that feels.
Like I just put a little 'spirit' into my drive.

If 6 to 5 isn't enough in my wife's car, it's no biggie to do 5 to 4. Similarly with 5, 4, and 3 in my '08 GT. Takes less time and thought to do that than it did to type about it.

It is an interesting complaint, not being able to accelerate quickly in top gear, but also not wanting to shift to a lower gear to accelerate faster.

The whole point of many gears is to allow you to have the correct gear for the job at hand. If you are cruising, a higher gear will get you better fuel economy, but won't accelerate as hard. If you want to accelerate, you need to be in a lower gear, but your FE will not be as good.

I guess you could always just drive around in 5th gear instead of 6th. Then you'd get your good acceleration without having to shift. I don't know, I'm a little bewildered at the complaint. Seems similar to saying "this car's top speed in 2nd gear is only 60 MPH. I want to go faster but I don't want to shift." All six gears are there for a reason, so might as well get your money's worth and use them all.

Don't be like Jimmy and just drive in third all the time. You'll wear out your transmission faster that way ;-)

IMO if a car is accelerating fast in top gear then it isn't geared tall enough.
