Tried that, now sound goes off completly when navi instructions are supposed to be on.. So still no voices
Unless somebody has any other suggestions I guess I will un-plug then re-plug everything in at the back end... Though I think its weird because for a very short time I did have the voices working
Even made up a new navi card with newer app & maps from the site suggested in an earlier post, but getting same result..
Geoff
Does anyone have any other suggestions on getting the voice instructions to work on my Tomtop???
Please & Thx..
Geoff

TomTop 8inch LCD Upgrade - Auto Volume?

Does anyone know if the TomTop LCD upgrade still retains the auto volume gains based on ambient road noise? That was the only con I ran into when I upgraded the LCD deck in my 2009 Expedition with an aftermarket Eonon unit.
Thanks,
Chris

The mustang's auto volume is speed dependent, not based on road noise.

Justin,
Thanks for the reply and info. So with the auto volume being speed dependent, does anyone know if this aftermarket deck adjusts the volume with speed? The one in my expedition did not, but it was also aftermarket and used a CANBUS for controls, so it really was not 'truly' integrated.
Thanks

Well I sent my defective unit back to their warehouse in California. They said I would get a refund once they receive it. They got it on the 3rd, so hopefully I will get my money back minus the return shipping. Their customer service has been spot on so far, so hopefully they won't let me down.

I did the update today. It appears to have fixed the clock and sort of the temperature, though I can't change the date and there are still stupid things (like the 'one connected' and Chinese-language play/pause).

Has anyone had any luck?

I'm tempted to pay a half-bounty for this update, but I'm really hoping for a one-stop fix.

The Tomtop unit appears to drop the gain adjustment for speed.

Also, did anyone else compile instructions for the maps? I really dragged my feet and, emboldened by the success of the general update, would like to give that a go.

Yes, that's it precisely. You'll boot up the unit, remove that card and insert the other, and run the update process. The card in the TomTop unit is the navigation card; don't overwrite that one! You'll need a separate microSD card.

It looks like the original host went down, but I managed to grab the file while it was active.

I've rehosted it on Zippyshare:

http://www115.zippyshare.com/v/TVGBZZ86/file.html

That will give you a .RAR file. Inside that file will be a folder. Extract the contents of that folder directly to the root directory of a clean microSD card, and follow the other instructions!
