im sorry if this is a topic that comes up a lot but i was unsuccessful in finding the info i needed.

im looking to do a mgw shifter in my 18gt and im puzzled on why they show the reduction of throw on the regular handles but not the flat sticks. now if im looking at older mustang flat sticks they say its adjustable from near stock to 50% shorter throw. so are the flat sticks end user adjustable or do they just offer more handle options to buy after the fact? i think i would be happy with either handle on the x spec side but i love the look of the flat stick.

I don’t think running a flat stick would change anything on the throw. I say go for it if it appeals to you. The older Mustang shifters from Pro 5.0 came standard with flat sticks.

At one point MGW was going to offer a tall flat stick and a short flat stick. You can still find the post and pictures of the two options on the forum when they announced the flat stick. After they released them they canned the tall flat stick leaving the shorter one since the tall one offered minimal throw reduction over stock.

They only offer the flat stick with the shorter throw X-Spec shifter for the same reason.

ok. i think i will call them Monday and get some info from them. as of right now its either the flat stick or x spec with standard handle. only looking for about 20% throw reduction and a round gripper ball.

The Flatstick is around 19-20% throw reduction and IMO is the optimal height. I ran one in my 17 and it was low enough to feel the difference but not so low that it inhibits the shifting. Definitely my suggestion for MGW ☠🤘🏻

i actually just ordered my shifter last night. went with the flat stick. went siver handle, stainless stem and ghost coyote topper. my car is royal crimson so i was tempted to go red but with all the trim otherwise being silver i kept the trend alive. im stoked but i want to do the driveshaft at the same time. few more weeks and i can buy one.

I have the flatstick with X-Spec and simply love it ! The throw reduction is perfect (not too short) and it looks great with the gripper ball and ghost Coyote logo !

Good choice with the silver flat stick! It is a huge improvement over the stock shifter.

I’ve got a regular MGW in my Mach 1. Love it. I don’t think it’s tall enough to even show any of the stick. It’s short but precise.

Hi everyone,
So I ordered my MGW low profile from lethal performance & I didn't see an option for flat stick. I had to order it from MGW to replace it with whatever stick I got. It has 4 screws 2 on driver side & 2 on the passenger side. I removed the drive side easily but the stick has these screws on a bushing that rotates with the screws. It looks like the passenger side screws are sooo tight & hold hard on this bushing thing. When I tried to break them first before the driver said the inner bushings rotate & force the driver side screws to be removed (push it back, out) & the passenger side screws keep rotating.

Any idea how to remove them? Used some wd40 did nothing.

Sorry if my explanation doesn't make sense I'm just so frustrated & tired.

If it's making the other side rotate when you're trying to remove one side - put the other screws back in and hold them in place with an allen key - and break the opposite side loose.

This video can give you a visual perspective:

Too late for you, but for anyone who wants the flat stick in the future, Terry @beefcake (a forum sponsor) has that as an option for the X-Spec -
