Here's one of my favorite GT500 sales stories (and I'm not making it up). When the 662 hp '13 GT500 was first announced, a customer showed up at our dealership wanting to order one. Had to be a convertible and he offered us MSRP if we'd order his first, so we did.
A few weeks later, a local musclecar collector calls me to order a 662hp '13 GT500. But, he conditioned his request by saying he had to have our very first one. I explained that we had already accepted a deposit for our first one. He said he would pay us whatever we wanted if we bumped the other guy. He's well known in our area and certainly had the means to pay any price. I explained the good news & bad news. The good news was that he wouldn't have to pay over MSRP, but the bad news was that he would have to take our #2 car because we would never bump the first customer as that would be just plain unfair and wrong. He got quite upset and asked what was wrong with me, wasn't his money good enough for us, etc. I simply explained that we have integrity and honor our word to our customers.
He ended up buying his way into the #1 spot at a different Ford dealer who gladly bumped another customer for Mr Big Shot's extra money. He was so happy about bumping that other customer at the other dealership that he called me back after the fact to gloat that he always gets what he wants and I missed a chance to earn his business.
