Actually, he did not give misinformation regarding usage below 40F. Per Tire Rack's website:

Important Care and Usage Instructions: Important Care and Usage Instructions: The ADVAN A052 was developed using high-performance compounds which become brittle at low temperatures, and therefore should not be used in certain conditions. ADVAN A052 tires thus must be stored or used only at temperatures at or above 14°F (-10°C) to maintain performance characteristics and to avoid any damage to the tire or injury to persons or property.

I agree. Common sense goes a long way with this type of issue. If you have these tires and it is cold........DON'T FLOOR IT. Drive conservatively. Too bad common sense really is not all that common.

They're unsafe in those temperatures. Period.

I've yet to have any problems with driving my summer tires year round. I don't have problems with taking off or stopping. I've driven mine down to -5F and don't be a dumbass and you won't have a problem. Is it ideal, or optimum? No. It's blown way out of proportion.

I've done it with Indy 500s and Conti ecs02. If you think that it's like driving on ice, then you have never driven on ice or driven summer tires in the winter. If you don't have experience doing so then I will dismiss your argument. LOL OEM came off day 4 of ownership.

Summer tires are sketchy in the cold. -5? If everyone had them one day, the tow trucks would have a busy morning
