Another Tire Shine thread..I know...I know..and sorry!

Though I had a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with!

Currently, I am using Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel. I know everyone prefers different tire shine, but personally I like mine a deep gloss/wet look. I'm open to try others, but when someone looks at the car/wheels, I want them to notice it. I also have the PP wheels if that makes any difference.

During my washes, I noticed it's a bit difficult to actually get rid of the tire shine. What would you recommend to get rid of the old tire shine? I've just been using my pressure washer and the car soaps I use, but I feel like when applying the new coats afterwards, it just doesn't look as good. There are so many products out there and I want to use one that will be safe on the tires and wheels. (Mainly if some gets on there, I use Sonax Wheel Cleaner for the Brake Dust, etc..)

Also, I've noticed that a lot of people seem to be negative about the Endurance Gel because of tire sling. I haven't experienced this yet, but am worried about it. Are there any other "Safe/better" products out there you guys can recommend that would give this same finish? Or should I not worry too much about it?

Thanks!

I use Adams Polishes "Tire & rubber cleaner", excellent for getting the rubber squeaky clean before applying dressing - I give the rubber a quick clean each time I do the wheels. For dirty rubber, the key is to keep doing it until the foam from the product turns white - as you scrub with a tire brush, this may take 2, 3, 4 rounds to achieve. You'll see this in a lot of the product videos. Willing to bet that on the first use, you'll find the suds go a yellow/brown colour! You would be surprised how much gunk the rubber holds on to.

Re endurance tire gel, I used to use this & whilst I loved it initially, after a while I found it to be very greasy, and "heavy" almost, to the point where I wanted to try something else (this was before I discovered rubber cleaning products!). I now use, and can highly recommend Adams Tire Shine - more of a liquid than the gel but a real pleasure to apply - with a foam applicator. Smells of banana too :) not quite as glossy as the endurance gel I would say, but I'm sure if you added a second coat it would be pretty close. Here's mine from my latest wash...

Thank you so much, that was super helpful! I'll definitely pick up some of that Tire cleaner then and check out the tire shine too! It does look nice on the tire! I'm assuming that tire cleaner is safe on the wheels too? (In case some spray does get on them, or do I need to be careful?)

Great color and shine on the car by the way!

Thanks :) yes, I do love this colour, I had a 2015 Ecoboost exactly the same before this!

This is where the technique comes in ;) if you're on the Adams website, have a look at the tire applicator (https://adamspolishes.com/adam-s-pro-tire-applicator.html) I spray the product in to that rather than at the tire (about 3-5 squirts should do it), then rub in to the tire. You may occasionally hit the clean wheel with the applicator, but just keep a cheap microfibre handy and wipe up if you do. The tire shine is pretty much my last step, the wheels will be clean and dry by the time I get to this, so it's easy to spot if you do accidentally wipe some tire shine on the wheel.

Simple Green will work to remove tire shine products.

Dawn dish soap will also work really well.

Use a hard bristle brush only on the tire sidewall itself after applying removal product, scrub (you’ll see the soap working, as the residual will be a brown sudsy mess), then rinse and repeat if necessary.
