tire question

I have a 2016 base gt auto with a tire issue and was wondering if the offer I am being given is fair. Per Ford although tires were under 11k miles but over 12 months, 14 months to be exact,and there was documinatation of vibration at 5k Ford wants Pirelli to deal with it along with local dealer. Pirelli has offered 20% off new set minus mounting and balancing.The dealer has worked a deal out with tire rep to allow me to change brands of tire but will still cost me 480.00 including mounting and balancing. The tire issue is at 55-65 I get vibration and dealer tried to road force balance and informed me tires are bad. My concern is if I shell out 480.00 for new tires and it still has vibration as others have. Looking for advice or suggestions.

Read the driveline vibration thread. It's a novel.

Drive at 60mph, and then shift to neutral. If the vibration is still there, then you are one of the lucky ones with driveline vibration.

I would ask them to put the car on NVH analyzer. If its from drive train it should identify that. SSM45938

It could be tires. sure. but that seems much less common, especially on fairly new tires.

Sorry to say, even though the tires are worn, the issue is NOT the tires... as others have pointed out, check out the vibration thread for sure. That's going to be your issue.

I would acquire a Ford CSR and tell them you're not getting traction from your Servicing Dealer to the issue and they are trying to pawn it off as being tire related.

The Service Centers want to play with tires first - they will do the road force balancing, etc... the vibe won't go away. The other thing is too, try and push to have your Service Manager take the car on a 20-30 minute drive where the car can be brought up to the speeds where the vibration occurs and MAINTAIN that speed... The common jaunt around the Dealerships block or into local neighborhoods wont cut it...
