Hi Guys,

I have a tire question, hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. Need some directions.
I just swapped my 13k mile Pirelli 255/40/R19s onto my new SVE P2 wheels 19x10... I didn't get newer 285/35/19 tires (Big REGRET) w new wheels.
Now, i have a lower profile combo set up and also having issues at car wash scraping new wheels on car wash plastic track. WTF! When i had my old set up 19X8.5 black accent wheels w Pirelli's 255/40/R19 i never had an issue at car wash.
What size tire should i buy to eliminate any car wash issues? (Please, Dont say wash car myself) Lmaooo I have many lower back issues w intense pain, hence the car wash..
The tire size that LMR lists w there SVE-PP2 wheels is "285/35/19", will this tire size give me enough meat on side wall to protect new wheels? or should i go slightly larger??

Thanks, Anthony

The rear performance pack wheels use a 275/40/zr19. It has a LOT of tire on the outer edge to protect the wheels from anything. Since yours is one half inch up the 285 should have similar tire meat on the outer edge!

Thanks for reply!!!!! Appreciate it!
But, wont the 35 affect the height? Shouldnt it be 40?

No, the 35 profile is correct. A 285/40/19 would more than likely rub, even if you aren't lowered over bumps. Its very complicated and something I don't entirely understand but the ratio will be nearly identical!

I have a non pp stock suspension, so not lowered. Ok, i think i understand what your saying.. I always thought the middle number is tire height...........

285/35R19 is the ideal size for 19x10 on our cars. Lots of people run this config.

Here is another calculator: https://tiresize.com/comparison/

It would be nice to have these tire size calculators in a sticky. I asked a couple years ago, but nothing happened.

I have a couple questions for you.
1: 19x10 What offset ?
2: 285-35-19 what brand tire did you go with ?

with the vehicle being stock height with a 285-35-19 you shouldn't have any rubbing issues
unless you have the right offset on the wheels.

Hi,

Thanks for ur reply... I dont know what the offset is, the new wheels are LMR SVE PP2s,...
I didn't buy new tires yet, I swapped over my 13k mile stockers which were Pirelli 255/40/19s..

OE tire outer diameter is 27" +- a few tenths of an inch. As long as you stay close to that diameter you should be fine relative to tire clearance and speedo accuracy.

The calculators links not withstanding the best tool for sizing tires is the Tire Rack. You can search by size and then view the specs for the tires that are returned. Look at outer diameter and section width to get real world numbers.

Thanks for your reply!!!!
So let me ask you then, If i get a 285-35-R19 and slap on SVE-PP2 wheel, should i bet good to go with enough meat on side wall to be able to go into car wash safely without destroying my new wheels?
Thanks Anthony
