Thx for the tip, what type clear do you use then? The Ford OEM repair pens or something else?
Any automotive clear touch-up paint should work. Any auto parts store should have it in the little touch-up bottle with a brush in the cap.

This will only work if it's just the clear that's been scratched. If you wet down the scratches with water and they still appear, then the scratch is all the way through the clear-coat and you would need to use the body color touch-up paint instead.

Clean the scratches with rubbing alcohol, then fill in the scratches with the clear. Let each coat dry and build it up above the surface of the rest of the paint a little. Let it dry well, then polish is down to blend with the rest of the paint. I'd suggest trying it on just one scratch first to see how it comes out.

I won't try polishing myself but since my C-Quartz didn't stick to the paint and have a warranty on it I might consider having it redone after all and have the scratches filled upfront so they can cure for some time first.

How exactly did it not stick to your paint?

I also have the black paint woes. My first black car had no idea it was so much work keeping her clean. I can wash the hell out of the car go inside and 15 mins later there is dust or pollen attracted to it. Love when she is clean and gets lots of compliments but as the owner you will always notice the smaller fine scratches. Chemical guys has some products I've been happy with. I'm getting a 300 detail next Saturday, can't afford the super expensive stuff but will be happy to have a pro do their thing. In the end nice having at least one black car but live and learn right

Polish Angel

I came back to black cars after having a racing red GT, saying never back to black....
I highly recommend Blackfire products. Depending on how much time you want to spend, you can use the polish and the paint protection. Good shine, no marks, and last a lot of washes.

But....Ultraclassic mentioned in a thread, Polish Angel, a German company that makes products similar to c-quartz and others. So I decided to try it.
Service and response its not excellent, but the product is....
Check the videos in their site.
I did the coating,(3 steps) and have the equivalent of a black detailer spray.
Results after few months; looks like the dust is repelled, takes longer to get dirty. Rain and dirt don't stick so easy....
Now I wash it with only water, and spray the "wulfinite" to the wet area to dry, and dry it with the microfiber towel. So easy and fast, the results are excellent.
I found a couple of time a cat over my car and no scratches! only cat hairs:frusty:

this product has made my life easier with my black GT...

What sort of "paint correction" had to be done first?

So you washed, then compounded car, then use their polish, then the cosmic, then seal with the spritz, touch it up with the black wulfenite?

Heres another vote for meguiars ultimate series stuff. Itll get them out and its impossible to ruin your paint with it. Compound, polish, cleaner, seal. Then 2 bucket the car with a white mitt so you can monitor the dirt on it

:amen::thumbsup: YUP... what he said!! I too bought Chemical Guys detailing polishers/polishes to combat the scratch wars on Black paint. It is AMAZINg how EZ it is to damage Black paint!! And I for one have a rigid routine of taking EVERY precaution to avoid the inevitable damage to Black Paint. It takes work but every few months you just have to set aside some time to do paint corrections on your car where needed. This will be the LAST black car I will ever own, Love it when it is right but keeping it right is just about IMPOSSIBLE! :frusty:

Welcome to black car ownership. I picked up some equipment from chemical guys and every couple of weeks buff the car with at least a jewelers polish and then a wax. If need be I use a heavier compound to cut down and hairline scratches like you see. If I happen to see something on my car and I wipe it with my shirt it leaves marks, then it buffing time again.

Get on youtube and watch the chemical guys vids related to black cars

I bought a black GT back in Aug. and had the me issue, it looked good but once the sun came out there were swirl marks all over it. It almost looks like cob webs in the sun. The car was new but had been sitting on the lot for awhile. I bought Chemical guys V34 and V38 compound and polish with white and orange pads for my Porter Cable. I spent a few hours compounding it, followed by a polish. The paint now looks incredible. I covered it with a coat of wax and hit it with spray wax in-between. It's well worth the time. Your paint will feel like glass and have a deep black shine to it.

I took delivery of my black GT350 this week. Car was in the showroom for 4 days before I closed the deal. Paint as well as the over the top stripes are loaded with swirl marks. That's from the sales guys "dusting" the car each night. All that did was do damage, not make the car look good.

Car is home and I've washed and decontaminated her. I started the paint correction process and have had very impressive results. I've only done the trunk lid and rear spoiler but it looks fantastic. I started with a blue hexlogic pad and McGuires M205 compound. I'll move to a white pad tonight to save a little time.

Paint protection is with Blackfire Wet Ice over Fire sealant and carnuba wax. Looks like a million $. I'm taking my time and estimate another 30-40 hours to really jewel up the paint. It's snowing now, so she won't see road action anytime soon.

My secret to keeping black look good is don't touch it more than you have to. Wash as normal but don't touch it to dry it. I use a Master Blaster but I've seen others use a leaf blower with great results.

If you're polishing that frequently you need to evaluate what you're doing wrong... like wiping things with your shirt :eyebulge: I would second the Ammo NYC videos over Chemical guys. They're a lot of marketing hype.
