I got a ticket the other day, but only because the driver side tail/brake light unit had failed at 1300 miles. I usually have positive experiences with police - but this was not one of those times. The officer was basically just so upset to see a 25 year old own and drive a GT350 that he just had to find something to write me for. It's not the end of the world but really frustrating to be paying a $35 "admin fee" for the fix-it ticket that was not deserved at all. :frusty:
Sounds like you got pulled over for a legitimate equipment violation and got a fix it ticket for it. Assuming it has something to do with the cop being upset because of your age and driving a Shelby GT350 doesn't quite seem to play a factor in that one.

Most of the bay area police agencies also bankroll over 100k a year easy, then add in incentives and overtime. I don't think the officer cared what kind of car you drive. Contradicting to admit your light was out, and then say how you didn't deserve the ticket.

If you got nothing on your record, you should be fine. At worst, PBJ with the fine.

Also, look into the Radenso Pro SE detector. I've been running one for a few months. It tested better than the Escort Redline. It is crazy sensitive.
they dont really do PBJ in louisiana. it generally gets changed to a non moving violation.

I'm just going to send in my V1 for the anti falsing update and be done with it. its never let me down, its just noisy with the advent of the traffic sensors in newer cars.

I'm going to return the escort max 360. not happy with it at all. this is not the first time that it failed to go off. just the first time that i was actually speeding.

Is it possible the radar unit in the police car wasn't turned on, and he just gave you an "eyeball" ticket? The last time I got stopped, I was in a school zone and going the exact speed limit. The officer said his radar unit got me at 35 in a 25. I told him that wasn't possible, 1) Because I never speed in a school zone, and 2) because I own the best radar detector on the market and it didn't go off. Then I asked him to show me the speed readout on his radar unit, and he told me to "drive carefully and have a nice day."

no he got me. I saw the radar unit. He gave me the courtesy of seeing it.

As i said before, fully admit to being a bit of a jackass. Its the first speeding ticket that I've gotten in 12 years.

Of course it is a legitimate equipment violation, but it was more about how the officer went about it. I'm a huge fan of police but even my friend who is an officer himself and was in the car with me - thought that this guy who wrote me the ticket went about it in a pretty unprofessional manner. There were definitely factors involved in him deciding to write that other than simply the light being out.

all i'll say is i get more attention in a black, stripe delete gt350 than i did in an orange gt3.

Both kinds of attention too. (good and bad.)

I'm going to just leave it in valet mode and drive it around like that until i'm at the race track. :-)

Did he have any reason to pull you over if the light wasnt out? If not, what are the other factors?

The light out was the only reason to pull me over. Which is absolutely OK with me. I actually did appreciate being informed that it was out considering that's surprising news on a new car. But the officer seemed to approach me with the attitude that either I was some sort of criminal or the car was stolen. By no means can I guarantee this is exactly what was going on in his mind. However it was definitely not a routine traffic stop for an equipment violation in my opinion, and that opinion is supported by my friend in law enforcement who was riding passenger in the car. From the way things unfolded the best conclusion I can make is that the officer jumped to a conclusion that something was wrong with a person my age driving the car.

Just frustrating because it seems that the ticket was given out of spite when the officer was not successful at finding anything bigger going on. In the end having to get a ticket signed off (convenient actually when you have LE friends) and pay a modest fee is far from the end of the world, and for all I know this officer could have been in a bad mood for a good reason.

And someone said these cars are not for middle aged guys. Guess police officers would disagree with that LOL. Kidding! Good luck on the road ahead.

From this post I can only gather you talked your way into the ticket. Police officer upset to see a 25 year old own a GT350 ?? Give me a FN break. I know plenty of 25 year olds with better cars then the GT350. I mean I had my first house built when I was 19 but I don't think when someone came to my house to install the power he was upset I was 19. Post like this make me LOL and get my pen ready for the next day.:headbonk:

I got pulled over in my neighborhood. The cop told me someone called 911 and said a vehicle matching my description was driving "erratically". I said, "I wasn't driving 'erratically'. The car is loud, so maybe someone thought I was going fast because it sounded like it." He let me go.
911 over THAT?!

Right on, that's a little silly. In fact, trying to bring age into it just makes you look even more of a cocky individual.

I don't ever like to comment on a situation I personally wasn't involved in, but I have some insight into this. Part of enforcement is education. Typically cops that are active in traffic enforcement will pull you over for a legitimate violation no matter how minor and search for other more serious violations. By that logic if they find no other violations they will cite you on the small violation alone. It's a part of the job some guys just enjoy, it's not personal. It's one of many things cops are paid to do and every cop does it slightly differently. No way he thought the car was stolen, or he wouldn't have conducted a routine traffic stop. Cops gather as much info about the car and owner as possible before the stop even occurs. And take it from someone who's not much older than you, most cops make pretty good money. Some even drive GT350's;)

Been pulled over 3 times in the GT350 - personal record. No tickets, I usually get along well with cops.
