Throw out bearing damage without clutch spring and perch

Hey guys, when does throw out bearing damage begin without the spring? In all of my fucking infinite wisdom, I decided I'd do the Steeda clutch spring install without needle nose vice grips. Bad idea. I got the assembly out but now I can't get it back into the clutch with either spring. And even so with needle nose vice grips, I'm not sure how you'd get that damn thing back into place to begin with. The spring is SUPER long in comparison to the stock 185lb. Tips? This 10 minute install did not go nearly as planned.

I have over 20,000 miles on my car without the clutch spring and everything is rosey. Based on my extensive experience with clutches and the feel of the action in the GT350, I do not plan to ever run an assist spring and I do not anticipate ever having any abnormal maintenance issues with the clutch or throwout bearing.

Absolutely agree^^

Many vehicles come with very similar hydraulic systems and do not use the spring which is only there to lighten the load a bit. Mine is fine too after many miles.

No the instructions said (I thought) you replace the 2 stock springs with one steeda spring. Made a nice difference in the clutch feel/engagement

I found directions on the web. I only got half the paperwork. Doh!

The spring removal and installation was far easier not following the needle nose vise grip method. I gave that a go and could not remove it. Reached up grabbed ahold of it and it came right out with minimal effort. the Steeda spring went in easily. Drove it for a week and switched back and it was all just as easy. Don't think my setup is any different but was really surprised as to how easy it comes out and goes in.

The same was true for me, just grab the spring and pull it out with your hand. I also ended up putting the factory spring back because I prefer it and did that with my fingers as well.

Why did you switch back to stock?

The Steeda spring was not an improvement in feel for me. Luckily it was a cheap thing. The factory setup in my car is very smooth and progressive with no hint of the behavior described by others.

I like the Steeda spring WAY better. It's still not perfect but there were times with the factory spring that made me think "Do I know how to drive manual...?"

Anyway, yeah the full directions would have definitely helped with that confusion. Whatevs, it's taken care of. I was able to get the perch with the Steeda spring back into the car with just my hands.
