I have a 2023 mustang gt. I was wondering if I bought the ford performance 87mm throttle body would I get any gains or is it worth leaving the stock 80mm tb on it?

Better off going with a 5 axis CNC reworked 80mm.
Check out Soler or AFS.
If the TB opening on the Gen 3 manifold was bigger then a larger TB area would have merit.

Thanks for the advice I’ve also heard to stay with the 80mm throttle body maybe add a spacer but that’s it. Thanks again

Don’t use a spacer unless attempting to install the 87mm but again the manifold inlet becomes a restriction.

Stock 80mm throttle body is great, there's plenty of cars making 1000hp with them. I tried doing a 90mm BBK and the car didn't run right and there wasn't much performance gains. Save the money and headache.

Leave it be, you won't see any real gains with the bigger TB. Plus if you get the bigger TB, you have to get a new intake or somehow customize your current intake to go over the larger opening. Not worth it.
FP sells an adapter plate for the gen 3 manifold. I agree it's not worth it though.

The two modded OEM 80mm TB’s I mentioned make a difference on a normally aspirated engine.

I'm in the middle of going to the Bullitt/Mach-1 87mm digital throttle body on my forced induction 2018 A10. I found a 120mm CAI at Juggernaut Performance made specifically for the Edelbrock 2650 TVS.

The Eddy was designed for the Edelbrock 103mm throttle body and has an adapter for the stock Ford 80mm TB. The adapter's stock side is an 84mm opening and there appears to be enough meat to machine it out to as much as 90mm. I'm thinking of taking the Eddy adapter to a machine shop while waiting for the Juggernaut CAI. Of course, the Ford Performance bolt pattern adapter will have to be machined out too, for the full benefit, if any.

I'm at 669rwhp at 8.7psi of boost on 91 octane right now. Once the tuning is done, I'm going to compare dyno results to see how the entire curve changes. Should be fun...

If your gonna mess with it I would do a ported one plus a nice cai and port the manifold. especially being you have a choked up stock intake being a 23 I feel they all compliment each other just doing a throttle body alone won’t do much. As others have said if you wanna wake the car up and not break the bank to much e85 tune plus headers or cat deletes and intake it’ll be a different car. If you check my post I have a small thread from last year showing how I did all these mods on my 22 and what it gained

E85 will come eventually. Will probably need bigger injectors than the 56's though. I'm getting 91 and 100 tunes for now. I was double-checking my measurements this morning and discovered that the Edelbrock adapter is actually 90mm in diameter on the stock throttle body side, 90.5mm to be exact. No machining needed for that part now. However, the Ford Performance bolt pattern adapter for the 87mm to the stock 2018 manifold tapers down to 82mm on the intake manifold side, 82.5mm by the measurements on the one that I have. I'm taking the pieces down to a CNC machine shop in town and seeing whether they can eliminate the taper to something between 88mm and 89mm without jeopardizing the seal.

I won't have the CAI, until late next week or early the week after that anyway. Might as well play with it some more. Again, this is just experimentation, because I enjoy it. Besides, one of the potential by-products of porting a throttle body is skewing the flow data that are published by the manufacturer. This can make it very difficult for tuners to have good street driveability, because they don't have reliably accurate baseline flow data to begin the tuning process. Ford Performance has an established baseline flow data table for the 87mm. Moreover, it will be all the more reliable, if there is no added restriction past the throttle body, in the form of a bolt pattern adapter, with a 5mm more restrictive passage.

As you've probably deduced already, driveability is just as important for my purposes as performance. Dyno results should be in about 2 weeks or so. The curve comparison should be more interesting than the peak comparison, I'm thinking...

@mikengail oh yeah I wouldn’t touch e85 without a full return fuel system since your boosted I was talking to the op if he wanted to make a little fun wake up to the car. Should be interesting to see your results and you should see a nice gain on a blower for sure I was saying na stock cars ain’t gonna see much gain from a throttle swap alone. I’m curious to see your gains on the curve as well I was suprised how much my curve changed on simple bolts on on a na car.
