Well installed the restrictor just now, seems my car was already relearning the extra air flow, as soon as i turned it on it droped to 500 rpm then readjusted back to 7-800 rpm.

Well find out monday whats good or not

Fyi, seems the restrictor closes the ID by 10mm of the velocity stack. In theory that should generate a bit more torque, but reduce high end hp.

The only thing I could imagen that would be effected would be the vvt, and spark timing on the tune.

So i had issues just w rpm hunting, idling at 500 rpm, and a flat spot from first to second around 2500-3000 rpm.

Removed restrictor. Idle is at 750, no more flat spot, and no more hunting rpms.

Safe to say I told yall so

Ford eec is a self learning system, older units like the A9L of the late 80s to 90s were very diserable. You can tune them for better results, but will compensate itself for bolt ons.

This is the smarter system now. These vehicles will be sold on a wide market from various altitudes and humidity levels, and temperatures.

This is my 7th mustang, and ive messed w svo turbo engines w injectors and repining dif eecs to work on def cars. Ive also completed all prerequisites to be a master tech, not ase cert but were ase prep courses. Also took advanced engine performance and emissions courses. So if I sound like I know what im talking about, trust me, its 99% bullshit and the other one percent is mustang stuff. Hahah

Update on my fitment issues:

The larger connection is doing fine now with the re-seated grommet and it did a 400-mile highway run with zero problems. The smaller connection is still backing out a bit. I haven't had a chance to try pulling and flipping the smaller grommet yet, but when I get home I will do that. I brought along some zip ties so I can tether it to the TB inlet portion if it becomes necessary.

@TJ

AWESOME MAN THANKS! so I am 100% as far as safely running my vehicle with out the restrictor right? seeing how it got the tune calibrated for the intake?
Hey so it looks like you were one of the select few to receive a tune for the restrictor-less CAI! A handful of people who requested the restrictor-less tune did receive that tune, and our tuning department will be in contact to review your feedback. Once we gather that group's feedback on running the CAI without the restrictor, we will tweak the tune if need be and then release it to everyone else going forward.

Please feel free to pm me if you have any questions!

Thanks,
David

Attempting to install the cai and getting a little frustrated, I'm attempting to get the factory cold air feed duct to "snap" into place and all it does is pop right back off if I even look at it funny, let alone attempt to get the airbox into the car.

Looks like the washer and push pin are too low in the mounting location to make it over the lip on the factory stock air duct

Give us a call tomorrow and one of our techs will be able to assist over the phone. We've installed this CAI in and out of the car hundreds of times without issue: 954-960-0774

I trimmed part of the lip off the factory extension, on the end that hooks up to the new box. I also plugged in the extension first, by itself, back onto the bumper/grille portion. I then droped the box in and plugged it all together, still doesnt line up 100% but is secured where it should be.

I used brute force and a rubber mallet to get it on! :paddle:

Seriously though it was a bit tough to get the factory air duct onto the air box.
