If the stock unit is a CAI, then why buy one...just curious.
The stock unit is very restrictive in the amount of air flow. The steeda CAI has a much larger airbox and not filter surface for increased air flow.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
I finally got my CAI in!
I winged the installation, skimmed over the installation instructions......I guarantee nothing.

Hey David quick question.
What is the purpose of the hole in the front of the intake manifold err.....filter housing?
There was a small plug that fit perfect, but I am not sure if I did that right.

This got lost at the end of the last page, it seems.

I had an open bottle of 10W-30 and I just put a dab on a paper towel and hit the rings real quick.
I used sweat and it worked just fine.

What's everyone's driving impressions? More intake sound? Are you running factory tune or steeda stock tune?

Much more intake sound at half throttle plus, I'm running the steeda stock tune, the combination really wakes the car up.

STEEDA!!!

Got my intake like 4 hours ago, and slapd it on, whilst uploading the tune. took a little bit longer than I anticipated, about an hour and half, for I winged the install, Didn't feel like reading the instructions cause that's how I rolled with my legos back when. Any who. The factory snout extension that mates to the new air box and factory bumper/grill/air inlet needs to be slightly modified on its aft end. for better mating to the riveted tabs on the steeda box. You also have to cut the intake resonator deal off, (((MAKE SURE TO CUT IT FLUSH))) Also I ended up with 1 extra screw.. wooops. haha. I did not use the velocity stack restrictor, Got the tune from steeda for the Gibson catback and their cai, so I figured wtf.

FOR THE MOST PART

got the tune loaded and got the sucker running, tpms sensors had to be reset so I took it for a drive ;). THE THING PULLS LIKE A MOFO, sounds deep, the conical air filter is massive af.

MONITORING A/F RATIO

I noticed that upon engine decel, the a/f climbs to 20 parts air, (I believe that's the o2 sensors maximum reading) where as on stock I believe I recall 18 or so. on hard acceleration it drops to about 12.8-13.someshit. SO I figure deleted restrictor, allows more air, that being said on acceleration I accomplish a rich mixture, which is good. idk if to lean on decel could fry valves, I do know on accell that is def not good.

Cylinder head temp stayed around 220 with 85degree temp outside. prior to intake and tune install it was 208 with 74 degrees ambient. pretty fn close if u use the good ol arithmetic skills.

Air inlet temp stayed around 130, and drops on accel to about 110 w 85 ambient, not very desirable compared to 74 at 71 ambient but it flows a F LOAD OF AIR.

voltage seems low at 12.7 at idle (did mention on the tune questionnaire that I have 3.73 gears w my PP ,haha) but picks up to around 13.4 ish moderate speeds, in daylight hours. don't recall how those figures were on stock aside from on highway speeds it was at 14v.

pretty damn satisfied, no hickups with tune, no idiot lights on, hard pulls, pissing neighbors off. scaring little kids stuff like that. I lost a quarter tank of gas, but the fuel mileage hasn't dropd from 15.6, obvi its a fluke hahaha its all good stuff.

SO hopefully some one at steeda chimes in to tell me Im voiding a lot of warranties atm, but ina safe matter.

ps cut the inner rim of the restrictor stub, so the button plug drops into that little valley area and plugs the hole. you maybe able to just leave the stub extended and have no rubbing issues, it just didn't pan out that way for me.

So, couple notes after putting some miles on my car w/ the intake installed:

  • The grommets for the PCV connections on the inner side are giving me trouble. The larger one popped in (not out) partially at some point after installation and I had to retrieve it by removing the intake from the reducer at the TB on the road today.
  • The smaller connection is also now loose, despite being snug when I originally installed it. I'm thinking of wrapping the connector in electrical tape to make it fit a bit more snugly just as a temporary fix.

Can grab pictures tomorrow. Too dark to do it now.

No voiding warranties ... you are covered by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Our parts are safe & don't cause problems to cause warranty claims ... you have nothing to worry about!

Best Regards,
