Hi everyone, I removed the thermostat during a radiator maintenance flush on my
17'GT, PP. Notice the black gasket on one side of the thermostat appers to be torn with pieces missing. The small amount that remains is pliabe without signs of rot. Th last pic is how its supposed to look. Wonder if it was installed at the factory like this? Not happy to think pieces could be in the cooling system.

No screen in WP. Those bits are in there somewhere.

Better off doing a flush to force out the bits. Just draining will only help remove the loose bits at the bottom of the system. There may be larger chunks caught up in cooling passages that will need some persuasion to evacuate.

Probably the majority of the pieces are following the coolant flow, and as such, I think they might be in the top part of the radiator.

Open to top hose and counter-wash the radiator from the bottom hose. It's rubber, it should float.
