I may get banned by asking this question here, in the S550 section. I don't see an S197 section. This forum is primarily concerned generation 6 Mustangs and not with the previous generation, but I know there are a few of you out there. I know that the 2015 has lots and of improvements and great style.

Does that mean that the highest and best use for 2011-2014 GTs is scrap metal?

There is a beautiful, really pristine, Black on Black GT Premium, Ford Certified, w/18K miles(new tires) and Brembo Brake and Security Packages and 3.73 axle at a local Ford Dealer for $23.9K. A new one would be $34K or more, probably $36K, which I can't really afford anyway. Black on Black would not be my first choice, but not my last, either.

But if those are just good for scrap metal well, I'm a guy, so.... . What do you think of 2012 Mustang GTs?

They are still great cars, I wouldn't consider them scrap just yet.

Depends on what you're using it for. I had a 2011, and while I loved that car, the interior difference is so vast and the ride with the independent suspension is so much better that I can't imagine going back. Honestly, for that Used S197 GT price you can get a 2015 V6... which I think is a better car.

There is nothing wrong with the '11-14 cars, nothing at all.

I got, on trade, only $23.5k on my '13 that had more miles, but also had aftermarket Roush front end and some other minor goodies. It sold for $26k and change.

Offer $22.5k and see what they say is my suggestion.

I don't know 'guy', why don't you tell US what YOU think of the 2012 Mustang GT.

FYI, this thread stinks of troll bait.

Just because the '15 is a new design with improvements, that doesn't make the '11-'14 cars "scrap metal".

I can't figure out if you're trying to troll us or what, but the S197s of those years were good cars. A new model doesn't make the previous model a bad choice. Everything improves over time.

2012? I don't think the 2010-2012 body style looks as nice as the 2013-2014. And 2015 is another story. I would pass.

No I'm not. But now that you bring it up, I'll have to take a look.

I don't know what part of my post elicited the comment "troll bait." I guess I don't know what that means. I'm just trying to decide what Mustang to buy.

And this is a Mustang forum so I thought I'd ask here.

Although I'd like a V8, the suggestion to look at a 2015 V6 is definitely the alternative. Is that a much better idea?

I didn't see anything troll-like up in here. I just saw a guy being funny :D

Yes try the 2015 V6. I think you'd be impressed, even with the base interior. I really liked the cloth in the base 2015 V6. I liked the cloth V6 seats better than cloth 2015 GT seats (looks-wise).

Only you can answer that.
You are talking about apples and oranges. So if you like citrus, go for the orange. If not, take a bite of the apple. Once you decide what you like, you'll win either way - both are nice in their own ways.

As the owner of a 2012 5.0, I would say a 2015 v6 is a downgrade when it comes to the speed and thrill factor. The newer car is nicer,, rides better, and has a decent interior (since it's only the base model.) but I would never be happy with a v6 vs. 5.0.

a 2013/2014 looks much better in my opinion.

The new car is superior in many ways, but if you get a good deal on an S197 that checks all the boxes on your want list, go for it.
