I switched from a Ngauge to a SCT tuner and this tuner has been finicky from the get go.
Am curious, why would you do that? Using a tuner that uses SCT?

In fairness, the device is a bit of pain to initially setup on windows 8/10. And it also can be a finicky when it comes to updates and loading tunes.

Still, in no way is this Steeda's fault.

An apology is definitely in order here. Customer service/support from Steeda is top notch. I used the X4 when I had my Unleashed tune on my EB. The device never gave me an issue. My only complaint was the data logging on it.

For selling me a tuner that is a fucking homework project. Sorry I'm not a Microsoft tech wizard and can't get this SCT X4 tuner to download anything. After two hours, I give up. Of course the CAI I just installed requires a tune....
I am a MAC APPLE guy cannot use Microsoft worth a shit myself. It was very difficult for me also. BUT, I called tech support at SCT and they have the best tech support that made it easy. They work off of East coast time so I had to get home from work early or go to work late to load my tune or data log. :) I am not a fan boy of any company on this forum but you sir are an idiot for calling out Steeda for your lack of researching before buying. SMFH

Apparently many other people have had issues with this tuner so no, the issue is not with me. At 7:00 Pacific time, I had no way to contact either Steeda or SCT. Every other tuner I have purchased for other vehicles came loaded and was "plug and play" with the vehicle. Yes, Steeda is a great company and I have purchased a LOT of products from them. Yes I was frustrated last night after spending a loooooooong time trying to get the SCT X4 to accept the download. So is it my fault? Or should Steeda sell a more user friendly product that isn't giving people issues??.....

I have purchased a lot of products from Steeda and their products are excellent. This tuner is NOT their product. I ordered their CAI/Tuner power pack. It's not Steeda's fault or SCT's fault either. It's a Windows issue that is causing you a headache. i suspect it's a driver issue with Windows 10. Once Windows has the correct driver installed for your SCT tuner you should be able to just plug in and it should work. Without the correct driver installed on your PC Windows cannot communicate with the device.

You are failing to realize that 90% of the Tuners in the Ford community have been stuck with SCT since OBDII came out. It has only been in very recent times that other options have become available. For ANY company to switch products would take money and lots of time learning new software, when they can keep using what has worked for decades now. SCT devices are finicky, they always have been. But for a long time they pretty much had the market cornered when it comes to Ford tuning devices. To say you didn't need to research the one modification that will void your warranty and possibly leave you stranded above all other modifications is not prudent.

You still aren't getting it. These SCT X4 issues have been all over many,many forums and on Facebook and other social media avenues.

What about ALL the other vendors that sell the same SCT X4? They are at fault, too? I am done replying to you.

Do some research next time and stop acting like a baby. You are a grown man for crying out loud.

If you can't figure out how to download an update, and plug a tuner into a computer/car ... maybe you shouldn't be tuning your car yourself.

Do enough research on SCT site, there have been numerous posts about having the correct driver to recognize the device, not a Steeda issue, it's your computer. Go to control panel, find the USB drive it's connected to, believe it starts with an M, then right click and find the driver, then go back into the SCT downloader then update the firmware. Just had to figure this out on my own last week, it's Windows

If you're having problems (either user error or manufacturer error or computer issue) it never helps to be rude/confrontational about it. David@Steeda is very involved in these forums and always helps people, so why be rude?

Despite this thread he STILL offered to assist you. SMH, people man.
