I would say it's a stretch to call this a problem, but I have an issue with the text message feature of my phone (iPhone X) not connecting. Bluetooth and everything else is set up properly. Phone connects just fine every time, all connections work through the SYNC (phone, streaming music, etc), Apple CarPlay works, etc etc. But the text messages will not. On the car screen, I have to manually go into >phone >text messages> then I get a pop-up saying connection was unsuccessful with the option to cancel or retry. I hit retry and it connects like a champ every time.

This is a new symptom that started this winter. I chalked it up to cold, slow shenanigans, but now that it's warm, it's still doing it.

It's more of a nuisance than anything (and I'm certainly not taking it in for this), but thought I'd ask.

I have to plug my phone in directly, not via Blutooth, to deal with text messaging.

Apart from that, have you tried updating SYNC? I think I need to do this yet, too. But if yours is bugging, sometimes running an update will wipe out the glitches.

Prior to this winter, every single option works through Bluetooth (except carplay obviously). The text issue is a new problem that started with winter, but yea, it worked fine prior to that through Bluetooth. Good thought though...and the update is a great idea. I have not ran one since I've had the car. Will check for one!

That's fantastic, DCShelby! Since mine had only ever dealt with texts when plugged in, I never realized I was missing this. I've already turned on notifications for my car as of now and will test this after work.

Thanks!

Your welcome. It will speak the text messages back to if you are driving. If the car is not moving, it will let you see the written text.

Thanks Robert, but unfortunately that's not my issue. All that is turned on on mine. although that article did mention the text app being open in the background. I'll check to see if I've been doing that or not.

Ensured I had the app open in the background; that’s not it. Still won’t connect text messages. I’ll check/try for updates.

Hmmm I have an iPhone 10 and got mine to work. Might try pairing the phone again.

That’s the thing @DCShelby , the phone is paired. Everything connects right up. Phone, phone calls, music, everything; I just have to jump start the text messages. IDK.
