Instead of explaining, I will copy/paste an email I sent to Justin @ BAMA performance of my problem:

***************************************************************
Hello Justin,

You and I spoke a few days ago with the issue I was having with my vehicle, and you were VERY quick to respond to my inquiry. I can not tell you how appreciative I am of your professionalism, cooperation, and quickness. Thank you.

But I do have one issue: The car runs exactly the same, as did it with the initial tune I had ordered from BAMA. And by "exactly the same" I mean: 1. Poor throttle response under 3000 RPM - much more poor than bone stock (absolutely no mods, whatsoever); 2. Difficulty getting off the line (neutral to 1st gear) - I get better throttle response and off-the-line speed from a Humvee made during the Vietnam war, my girlfriend's car, an extremely beat up and old scion xb(or something. that one boxy car), and my mother's old v6 camry. I was actually amazed at how much faster the aforementioned vehicles were able to accelerate under 3k rpm.

**Downloaded all necessary drivers and updates for the SCT tuning device

**Returned vehicle to STOCK before inputting tunes in

**Tried both race tune and performance tune

As I understand how busy you and the team are I will remind you again that the reason I ordered a second tune (which is exactly the same as the first, couple months back) is because I thought there was a mistake in either your or my end in inputting the correct modifications for my vehicle, which includes the following: 3inch piping StainlessWorks exhaust, JLT Cold Air Intake, 3.73 gears.

This is very troublesome for me, and I hope you can help me out, once again.

I posted on the mustang6g forums regularly to inquire if anyone else if having similar issues, but it seems like I'm the only one.

Apologies for the lengthy email, and thank you very much in advance. I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Sincerely,

Charles

Proper tightness of CAI = check
Proper tightness of exhaust = check
Update tuning device, download drivers = check
Poor throttle response under 3K RPM = check check check

What do YOU guys think the problem is here? Could something be loose?

This is driving me NUTS...:(

Is it throwing any codes? You should probably perform some "data-loging" to provide to Bama in case they need it.

if the throttle response hasn't changed, probably in the tune more than likely, I'm sure they'll get you taken care of

if not, shoot us a pm and we'd love to do a lund tune for you

Beefcake,

Thanks for your response! =]

There's an authorized Lund tuning dealer 30~ish miles from my area (GT Performance @ Stanton). Due to my unpleasant email-tune experiences, my next step, if no person in the forums can help with alleviating my issue, will be to have my car tuned by a rep directly at the Lund dealer in Stanton, CA.

Could there be any other reasons as to why my throttle response has becom terrible AFTER the 3 mods? - 3in exhaust, intake, tune.

Let's hear some plausible hypotheses.
Thanks in advance, guys.

they don't tune the car, lund tunes the car, and emails him the file and then he loads it on your car, no different than us emailing it to you direct

Ah, I see.

I will have to wait until my next paycheck to request a Lund tune.
Looking forward to this!

I would suggest checking vacuum lines but I would think they'd throw a code. Honestly sounds like a bad tune which is hard to believe they'd send you twice. If it wasn't the tune it should have thrown a code for anything else.

Charles -

My car had the same issues you described until I received the 91 Race tune from BAMA. That fixed the soft throttle response around 2700 rpm that I had (and sounds a lot like what you are describing). The guys at BAMA will sort it out via a datalog session. Good luck to you!

JUST came back from resetting ECU. No fix.

SF-2015 GT, I ordered the 91 performance and race. Both feel the same under 3k RPM. And even if the Race tune feels better than the performance tune, it still feels very much worse than bone stock.

Driving in normal mode is a pain, too. I have to toggle on Sport Mode to even get anywhere with normal driving.

Could the problem be...the design of my exhaust?

Stainless works. 3inch diameter piping

If you only have catback it wouldn't matter. If you have headers it could be the issue.

So if you put the stock CAI back on and load the stock tune does it drive and accelerate normal?

Humvee made during the Vietnam war? I thought they were made starting in the 80s. It's no surprise a time traveling humvee can out-accelerate your Mustang.
thought the exact same thing
