wondering how to use the apps in sync 3. I plugged my iphone in, and the other thing that shows up with it plugged in or not is the sirius travel link. I can get pandora to work as long as i choose it and pick to use my phone, but thought that may show as an app. What apps will show up? how does that part work?

I use Spotify and have to plug in and start Spotify first for it to show up in the menu screen on the sync 3. Same for most of the apps. Also use MLB.TV on it.

I alternate between Spotify and Pandora using bluetooth. Is there any advantage to using the apps? Having to carry and plug in a usb cable seems like an unnecessary annoyance unless there is some benefit.

Can someone explain how this works? I have an iphone and a 2016 Mustang with Sync 3. I plug in my iphone via usb into the dash and start the apps on my iphone (dominos, Glympse, etc) and nothing shows up on the Sync 3 app screen other than Sirius Travel Link. I have apps enabled under settings. What am I missing?

The below is for Android Auto but the first part should be the same for both AA and CarPlay.

It is a PITA to set up Android Auto initially. First you have to go into the Sync and tell it to allow it. Then plug your phone in to the USB port. For Android Auto you have to ensure your phone is is MTP mode (Settings, Developer settings and scroll down until you see it). now go into "More" in the settings of the phone while connected to the USB and turn mirror link on. This option will only be available if the phone is connected to the USB port in the car. There are very limited apps supported by AA. Waze announced they will be adding support in the near future. That is really the only app I care about.

I have an iPhone. And I haven't messed with it much, I can play my music and phone contacts and stuff. I have not been able to figure out text messages? It says you have to allow sync access on your phone or something. I have only connected via bluetooth but can't figure out how to get the texts to work. Any advice?

It seems Ford just needs to put a tech group together with the priority to get Sync 3 and Car play working correctly.

the text message feature is pretty cool. I have I - phone and use through bluetooth. if driving and a text comes in it will read it to you. If stopped you can display on screen. To send I use Siri bitton on the touch screen, just say who to text and say the message. It was easy to set up on the communication screen

Keep in mind not all cell phones work with the text feature.

Make sure you bluetooth is on, then go to settings and click on the little blue circle i for SYNC.

Then make sure you enable notifications.

You should now get messages to show up.

Hey Tigernation,

R1Jester has provided you with the correct steps to enable your texts. For more info on this feature, check out this link: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync...ten-and-reply-to-text-messages.html?sync=sync
