Sync Update

Besides some Smartphone compatibility fixes, is it worth to do this update...? After all, I'll have to reprogram the radio and XM stations and reset the climate settings and hope the map file works.

I'm looking in to this for you. In the meantime, please try re-formatting the USB to FAT32 and try the download again from Google Chrome. Let me know if there are any changes.
I realized that I never responded to this, no it never worked on my own. I did notice though that a lot of the people who have found success have found it by using PC machines.

I'm on a MAC - but I have not yet tried with a PC (since I don't have one) but I'll try and will report back with results.

Updated my car to 5.9 today and it seemed to break everything. Well, not everything, but when I started the car it said there was no key present. But the car started and the key was in the cupholder. Now my phone won't connect even though it sees it and the phone says it is paired. Should I reinstall it or can you roll it back to the older version?

Updated my car to 5.9 today and it seemed to break everything. Well, not everything, but when I started the car it said there was no key present. But the car started and the key was in the cupholder. Now my phone won't connect even though it sees it and the phone says it is paired. Should I reinstall it or can you roll it back to the older version?
Hi speedfrk,

Did you delete the old SYNC connection from the phone before pairing it back to the vehicle?

Hi Cara, yep I deleted it a couple of times. It paired and connected once and then didn't the next time. This morning, it did after I restarted the phone. I'll keep testing it and report back. Hopefully, I don't have to restart the phone every time I get in the car! Just for reference, it always worked fine with 5.8.

Good to know! Since there isn't an option to re-install previous software, I recommend performing a master reset. Once the reset is complete, pair the phone back with a clean connection. I still haven't been able to generate a Vehicle Health Report and neither has my service manager. The system keeps saying that a VHR can only be done if the vehicle has more than 200 miles on it, therefore the report cannot be done. The system has been saying that for about a year. Updates don't clear the problem at all. The updates listed on the EB and on the Ford site also don't match.

Is there a new update out? I'm seeing people with 2015s here (so Sync2) talking about versions 5.8 and 5.9. My last update was in October and the Sync site says I'm up to date with version 3.8. Is there a difference in version numbers between the MFT and non-MFT system or am I missing some updates?

Nine,

V3.8 is the most up to date software for the MyFord Touch systems. The V5.8 and V5.9 versions are installed in the basic SYNC systems.

This is a base Sync system update, not a MFT (Sync 2) update.

I have a really stupid problem every couple of days where my basic sync is at 5.9 and it will connect to my phone. Though when I turn off the vehicle and comeback it WILL connect to my phone but when I try to play it with commands "Bluetooth" then "play" it will start making audio play through my phone not the cars speakers

Hi The Dark D,

When and if this continues, perform a SYNC module reset.

•Select radio.
•Hold the power button (center of the volume knob) + the right-seek button at the same time for up to 5 seconds.

The display will indicate when the module is resetting. You may then release the buttons.

Yes, I did DL the phone contacts when I set it up originally. The phone connected normally all day today but I haven't made any calls to see if it does the lock up thing again. I'll try making some calls from the car tonight.
