Can someone explain to me the process of getting this onto my car? I have no experience updating my unit.

Dan's link on page 2 covers the install.

A high level overview would be

- Downloading the file in the link
- Formatting a thumb drive (don't use NTFS. I would recommend exFAT) make sure drive is at least 4gb
- Unzipping the file and extracting the contents onto the thumb drive
- Plugging your thumb drive into the USB port in your car
- Initiating install (hopefully around 15-30 minutes)(make sure to start car up before install and leave running)
- Profit???

Ford didn't release anything. This is a leaked file possibly from a Ford or a Blackberry employee. This is an universal upgrade file for Ford Sync 3 system.

There is two versions of this file: one for navigation and one for none navigation unit. They are separated due to the limited hard disk space on the non navigation vehicles, so their upgrade process is split into two steps.

Absolutely love Android Auto. Google Maps is, of course, much better than Factory Nav. And the interface for Google Play Music/Every music service is also really intuitive.

I thought sync 3 did auto updates using wifi? the usb method is what those of us with sync 2 have to do to update.

it does but Ford never released it. someone leaked the update via usb. This is NOT for snyc2.

My personal theory? They leaked it to reduce load on their servers lol..
all kidding aside, they have yet to release it from whatever reason unknown to man...
The "leaked" seems to be by someone that have access that grabbed it.
it works, and our units upgraded successfully, even after when u go to ford owner site, it see u got the new update., so its legit, if u ask me if whoever released it put a malware on there to track us and report to uncle sam ? i dont know, and don't care. Cause i finally got Android Auto

They are the real deal ford update... signed and all. Otherwise you would get this error if someone tries to tamper with the files:

Ford released the update for most 1.0/1.1 Lincolns with Sync 3... none of the Ford vehicles yet.

Anyone has issues with the audio on Android Auto? When I start the vehicle, it plays music through the stock radio and pressing the Play Button on Spotify Android Auto does not play the music. I have to replug the phone in.

Phone: Nexus 6P with Android 7.0.

I'm on the Nexus 6P with Android 7.1.1, and I'm not seeing any issues. I'd like to see some changes, but no issues.
