I didn't want to outright go there. maybe next time.Thank you Cara. Appreciate the quick response.
I hope you and your collegues understand customer frustration with lack of information over the course of months especially since the '17s seem to have much of what we're asking about. Despite the 'teaser' information put out, we're sticking with our cars :ford:
Could you at least let us know what the hardware change consists of? There's a ton of resourceful people on this thread who might want to consider their own approach to the hardware upgrade.
I would also appreciate any new info on the transmission and differential cooler fix
Hey lemers, you are correct, 2016 GT350 Tech Packs have SYNC3.
Tank,Thank you Cara. Appreciate the quick response.

Hey lemers,2016 GT350s with Tech packages have SYNC 3, correct?
And since you're answering questions...
Correct, though most features, to include NAV, do not work in Europe. Something else that was supposed to be cured, but still no info on...:ford:2016 GT350s with Tech packages have SYNC 3, correct?

If we can get Car play working I can use the Google maps off the phone.Correct, though most features, to include NAV, do not work in Europe. Something else that was supposed to be cured, but still no info on...:ford:
Very true, and hopefully the EU will follow through and get rid of the crazy roaming charges we pay every time we cross a border. If not,Google Maps will be a very expensive "solution". The only problem left after that is the fact that it doesn't download updates off wifi overseas. Perhaps a VPN router can fix that, but wow, the effort required to make simple things work as promised...If we can get Car play working I can use the Google maps off the phone.
For an extra 60euro a year I had euro roaming on my service. I only put it on one phone and that was so work could get me and my wife would take it if she went wine shopping in France.Very true, and hopefully the EU will follow through and get rid of the crazy roaming charges we pay every time we cross a border. Well, no, that's not how CarPlay works exactly. You can use Apple Maps presently. There is an extremely limited number of third-parties that have been blessed to develop their apps for CarPlay. Google is not one of them.If we can get Car play working I can use the Google maps off the phone.
As long as I can use some kind of maps. thats my first priority.Well, no, that's not how CarPlay works exactly. You can use Apple Maps presently. There is an extremely limited number of third-parties that have been blessed to develop their apps for CarPlay. Google is not one of them.
Android Auto is significantly more open in this respect. You can use Google Maps there just fine. ;)
Yes. 2017s have Sync 3 v2.0 which the major feature is CarPlay/Android Auto. There's not really anything else visible that has changed. So do ALL the 17's already have support for CarPlay?
But the 16's need some kind of unknown hardware and software upgrade?
Thank you,
DM
Thank you, from your sig it looks like you have one, how is CarPlay? Does it work well?Yes. 2017s have Sync 3 v2.0 which the major feature is CarPlay/Android Auto. There's not really anything else visible that has changed.
2016s whenever they get v2.0 can support Android Auto with no hardware changes, but CarPlay requires a different USB module from what I've heard. No specifics on what the existing module doesn't have that CarPlay specifically needs.
It works well enough but is still buggy. I think this to be more on the phone side than the head unit side. Sometimes you tap on an app and it's just unresponsive. CarPlay is basically just a video stream as far as the head unit is concerned, it's on the phone to do all the business.Thank you, from your sig it looks like you have one, how is CarPlay?
