What kind of tools are needed to remove the factory manifold/cat from the drivers side? Did you need to disconnect the steering shaft to remove any of that?

If you have an Auto - no O2 extension required. If you have a Manual - O2 extension required.

Definitely a PITA to put in, but I got mine completely done in 7 hours in my driveway. Definitely love my SW long tubes!

Nice pics. If you didn't use the extensions, what do you mean re route the wires?

I did remove the steering shaft Torx socket(I do not remember the size maybe in the 20s), and two nuts under the dash 10mm, that are easy to get to as long as your seat is back, mine wasn't and the battery is out of the car lol. Everything else was just sockets, extensions, wrenches & ratcheting wrenches. I did not remove the rubber portion of the engine mount, and with a dry fit I figured how to turn the header to get it in...it was simple.

Wire re route

Now keep in mind mine is an automatic, I followed the O2 wiring to their next connection and unplugged and by routing them in a more direct route there's ample length. Some else post that a manual trans doe not have this extra length. I will take better pics after work and post them.

I am just removing that entire drivers side manifold/cat and then installing a 11-14 exhaust manifold with cat deletes on both sides, I'm hoping I wont need to mess with the steering shaft or motor mounts other than the manifold nuts that mount it to the motor, leave the factory studs in and just swap out the two drivers side manifolds and then just install the cat deletes. Did you need to disconnect the steering shaft or the motor mount prior to removing the factory manifold/cat? Is that removable without having to mess with those two items or did you HAVE to remove them to get that manifold/cat out of the car? I thought I read somewhere that the pivoting head ratcheting wrenches are needed to remove the manifold?

If you're already removing the drivers side header, why not just get new headers?

$170 for parts plus whatever I pay a exhaust shop to make the connection from the cat deletes to the cat back VS $900 minimum for LT's and o/r leads, for just about the same amount of hp gain. LT's and the ONLY aftermarket option for "cat deletes" at the cost of $400 and cutting up my stock parts just don't seem worth it to me.

I agree about hacking up the stock parts and paying to have it done, but if I'm already in there what's a couple hundred bucks?

lol its more than a couple hundred bucks.. its like $500 more at least... The cheapest LT's I can find with o/r leads is $895 shipped to my door. With what I'm doing:

-I get to keep my stock parts and not have to cut/weld on them
-I have $170 into the all the parts including all hardware
-I wont have to pay a shop anymore than 2hrs at the MOST to fab up some nice pipes that connect the cat deletes to the cat back.
-I will have $500 in my checking acct:headbang::headbang::headbang:
-The hp/tq gains wont be very much less then doing the LT swap and lots less labor/time I will have to work on the car and if I have to swap the stock parts back in, it wont be hard to do either.

Could always have the shop fab your cat deletes and add a flange to the stock header so you can bolt it back up. Requires hacking the exhaust, but saves you a bunch of labor.

I looked into that already as well and was quoted $600 lol. I don't mind wrenching on my car to save some $$ and KNOWING exactly how things were done etc too.
