I have a few probably stupid questions.

If you have a car tuned fom Nitrous, how does it run at WOT if you don't spray?

Does it run really rich if you don't spray?

Are you expected to change the tune on the car if you plan on going WOT and not spraying?

Just wondering how the car runs if it's tuned for nitrous but you don't have the bottle ready.

Yes, the car will run rich between say, 80% to 100% throttle on the nitrous tune when not spraying. As long at you stay below 80% throttle your car should drive like normal.

To get around the issue of not having the bottle ready, consider running a remote bottle opener and heater (not a bottle blanket) and you’ll be ready at a moments notice.

It would be best to start out with the mindset of (I’m going to spray while I’m out, or I’m not going to spray while I’m out). If you’ve made up your mind that you won’t be spraying, load the NA tune and go have fun on motor. If you change your mind while you’re out, you’ll need about 6-10 minutes to flash over to the nitrous tune.

Look up a wet nitrous system vs a dry nitrous system. Should definitely run wet, it adds additional fuel along with the nitrous so the car runs normal when not spraying because the extra fuel is only enabled along with the nitrous system.

No, its not going to run rich when not spraying. The Nitrous kit will (should) handle the additional fueling. The difference in the tune will be how much timing is commanded. You will be down a bit on power when not spraying, if running a Nitrous tune, but nothing major.
IMO if the bottleis empty and you dont plan to spray it for a few days, etc...just flash the tune to the NA file.

Yep. Have a second, NA tune ready. Off the bottle the car will feel pretty flat on the top end without the additional timing it would normally have.

Just make sure you never, EVER spray on the NA tune!!!

I also second going for a wet kit. Slightly more involved install, but it takes the guesswork out of delivering enough fuel.

Now - my opinion. I ran nitrous on my old car and wouldn’t do it on the S550. Plenty of people run it on the Coyote, but it truly is a risky proposition. This engine is too expensive to gamble like that (for me).

Incorporate as many safety features as possible into the system, such as a fuel pressure safety switch, window switch, TPS switch (to detect when you’re at WOT), colder spark plugs and a BAP. Lastly, a good tune as well. As said above, wet kit does meter the fuel via the fuel solenoid jet (may have to play with these), or the tuner can also add more fuel via the tune to fine tune things. Dry kit adds all of the fuel via the tune, but that may require bigger injectors.

I believe that any power adder can be risky and they should all be used with extreme care or bad things can happen.

I picked up 170 rwhp on my 150 shot with E85.
