Kids and logic don't usually go together. I'd be rather upset. Not sure much will come of it though, parents won't have to pay. Best you'll get is the parents forcing the kids to offer to wash your car. Too bad you didn't call the kids on their stupid behavior the first time you saw it.

I would have to use the check for the damages to get me out of jail, I would have wanted to put my foot up the parents ass. It all comes back to the parents, didn't teach the kids right from wrong, respecting other peoples property, I can go on and on. We had some kids on bikes in my neighbor hood scratch my wife's car with the handle bars. I stopped the kid that was doing it and told him do not ride the bike between the cars and stay off the side walk and then asked him if he understood me. They stay away from me now. I have no problems with kids, I have 2 daughters and 1 son, and 3 grandkids, but don't F-with my cars or property!
Did you get the parents involved on this one?

I had gone to the barber shop a few days ago and seen some kid circling my car very closely with his bike. His handle bars didn't even have those rubber grips on the ends, so it would have f'd my car up big time. By the time I got out there, he had already rode off and was riding around in the parking lot. Didn't see him around the car again after that. I was very shocked that there were no scratches considering how close he was.

Sorry to see this. I can relate. 1979 I had a brand new Chevy 4wheel drive pickup, and same thing happened. Two little kids playing on the hood and roof. I yelled at the kids and their mother called the cops on me. It didn't go to well at first, but it all worked out in the end.

I did not get the parents involved, I think the kid lives with his grandparents, and based off what the grandmother looked like I didn't think I would get anywhere with it. So I called the head of the association and they sent out a letter to everyone in the neighbor that described the problem that was brought to there attention. The letter bluntly said that the children in the neighbor hood needed to be taught to respect other peoples property.

How things have changed! When I was a kid, we all used to actually do that and nobody cared, in fact they liked it! In the 70's it was just different, people saw cars more as function.

Today is a lot different and I would feel the same way. Bud kids are kids, thats what they do especially in apt complex's (which is where I lived as a kid too). I've had to deal with some kicking out my sprinkler heads around here. I couldn't imagine owning a nice car in an apt complex without a dedicated garage... that just asks for trouble.

Living in a apartment complex is not asking for trouble, but unfortunately is sometimes the shit you have to deal with.

This is a good reminder to speak up and stop bad behavior when we see it, not just when it affects us personally.

Absolutely ridiculous. Sorry but your parents messed up big time. I grew up in the '70s and I still remember worshiping the odd Boss car or winged Mopar I saw on the street. And I would never damage someone else's car - even if it was a beater.

Respect others' property. Period.

Of course my parents taught me that but they were also hard working and always owned a home - even though only dad worked. Mom waited until we were teenagers to go back to work.
