Hi,

Is it possible to obtain new plaques for the strut tower brace ?

Mines a little worn (2nd hand brace) and it was coming off anyway to re-coat the brace :

If I can get new (or custom) plaque I might be tempted to replace it :like:

Thanks in advance for any input :like:

Thank you :like:

I will continue to look for the OE badge and if I can find one I will post the link here.

In the meantime I have stripped the original :

It’s off the 350 aluminium brace which I am doing in gloss black, I am tempted to do the badge in grabber lime ... ?

Turn the backside up and fill out the lettering and markings with green like you did with your gear knob

Else the hard but cool way - paint it black also and get the liftet lettering and markings green

I wanted to paint fill it but I’m not sure it would be possible to do a ā€˜good’ job ... :frown:

The plate is very thin and flexible and the ratio of high and low areas won’t make it easy. I also wondered about painting it black and then flatting back the top of the letters down to the ally but again, I think it would be very had to get this even and looking good.

If I can source a replacement, I might be tempted to get a little more brave / experimental with the original ... lol

I’m also thinking of tapping the mounting holes so a can bolt the plate on rather than rivet it, that should give me the option of easy and quick changes in the future :like:

Riv nuts or "blind" nuts might be and option to tapping threads. They would definitely give the screw/bolt more to bite into, I just don't know if they would raise the plate above the surface too high.

I did wonder about those and I have some countersunk inserts (be it in too big of a size) but I’m not sure on the internal depth being suitable :

The wall section is thick though so I think threads will be fine (especially as they are only low torque) :like:

Inserts can be an emergency option if the threads fail :like:
