Industry I work in uses polychain belts for driving feedrolls. They'll break if they go from having a constant tension to less tension back to being under full tension.I always wonder why people don't use cogged belts. We used them in the steel mill and they had a shit ton more stress than any blower would place on them.
2 inch wide belts on 400 HP electric motors forcing 1/2 inch thick steel belts into a former then into a HF welder.
3.5 inch to 16" diameter pipe when finished.
Harley Davidson uses cogged drive belts without tensioners. They do not breakLightning community that uses cogg belts however, they install a manual tensioner. Which is probably the only way to keep them intact on a street car.
Yeah, idk. I'm not engineer. Lol it might have something to do with the composition of the belt or the short span.Harley Davidson uses cogged drive belts without tensioners. They do not break
It's the design of the belt. The industrial belt is designed to break before the jam causes hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage.Yeah, idk. I'm not engineer. Lol it might have something to do with the composition of the belt or the short span.
Makes sense. It's the design of the belt. The industrial belt is designed to break before the jam causes hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage.
The drive belt is designed to replace a chain and can take varying loads.
