Mine is fixed!

So somewhere I read that the procedure for programming the TPMS (2016 Premium w/ PP) was to:
1) put the car in power accessory mode (on but engine not running)
2) cycle the hazard toggle 6 or so times.
3) the car will honk and prompt you to program the left front tire

That procedure does bring up the usual prompts for programming the left front tire etc, but it did NOT ever work to actually program the tires!

The other procedure you'll see (which completely worked) is:
1) start with the car completely off.
2) Press the brake pedal once and release.
3) Then cycle the accessory power (but don't start the engine) on, off, on, off, and on. (cycle the power on three times and leave it on)
4) while leaving it on, press the brake pedal once more
5) then cycle off, on, off, on, off, and back on. (cycle the power on three times, leaving it on)
5) the car will honk and show the usual prompts.

Both procedures left the car in what seemed like identical states with the same prompts, but unlike the first one, the second procedure actually works!

You'll still need a training tool or (i assume) to drain 10 or so lbs of pressure out of the tires to get each tire to register.

FWIW, my wheels have aftermarket TPMS sensors, not Ford branded ones (if it matters).

Anyway, one mystery successfully solved!

I have swapped my tires 10 times and never had an issue until the eleventh time, then they would not sync. I tried several relearn methods and nothing(even thought the mode was potentially showing relearn), then I found this and it totally worked. Thank you so much!!!!

I’m giving NightmareMoon a sincere Thank You! Needed this procedure to resync my stock CF wheels. Hazard light toggling method did not work.

Background info — bought a set of track wheels and OEM Ford sensors. These sync‘d right up, no tool required. TBH I never dealt with TPM sensors before, so never gave it a thought. After first ever track day on last session, noticed an error, which was no reading on right rear — which was due to the sensor detaching from the wheel stem.

Put the stock wheels back on — now showed no reading from any wheels. So the car never relearned (Sync’d?) the stock wheels. So tried the learner, hazard light method NG — found this thread, again, thank you Nightmare Moon!

I have two sets of wheels and tires. I've been swapping them twice a year for over 5 years every spring and fall (summer and winter tires). I've never had a problem with the car recognizing the different TPMS sensors each swap. This fall, the car failed to recognize all four of my original TPMS sensors. I just used the 12 dollar tool from Amazon below and my sensors are working like champs again.
So I guess we do need this tool once the sensors start aging.

Glad to hear you got things working. IMO, it's a sign the internal TPMS sensor batteries, being five YO, are on their way out. Next season or tire change, I'd consider replacing the sensors.
