Stop and Go Adaptive Cruise

That's just it... this system won't stop your car. If you're having a medical emergency and lose control of yourself and your car, the current adaptive cruise control will slow you down with traffic to 12 mph and then let you rear end the car in front of you.

That's not how it works on my 2018. If I follow a car off the highway to a red light, the ACC stops my car completely.

That is strange. Does it work consistently? For example in city traffic?

I had a 2018 and now a 2019 and neither of them do this. I get a chime at about 15 km/h and it turns off. Do you not get the chime?

I think you might want to get that checked out. I found a 2018 owners manual online and on page 167 it says the same thing as the 2019:

"Note: If the engine speed drops too low, an audible warning sounds and a message appears in the information display. Automatic braking releases. The system does not operate below 12 mph (20 km/h)."

Has anybody figured out a hardware/FORSCAN mod to make 2015-2017 S550's adaptive cruise control stop and go?

It's Ford's older technology. I believe that you need redundant sensors for stop-n-go (so both radar and camera) and the mustang acc just has the radar. So it will happen on the next redesign, I'm sure.

Fusion was the first to get stop and go ACC, now I think most of them have it except for the mustang and the super duty.

Doubt stop and go will come to the Mustang. Could completely erase the hard earned reputation as a crowd parter.

At least in all of the cars I have owned (wife actually), and I have been loaned by ford, the ones that had stop and go had front ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers. I think while forward facing cameras and the ACC sensor in the front bumpers are good enough to maintain distance at some lengths, I am wondering if using stop and go requires something more precise, as in ultrasonic sensors?

I know that no Mustangs come with front parking sensors, so perhaps that's why stop and go is unavailable? If anyone has a car with stop and go that does not have little button sensors in their front bumpers, I'd loved to be proved wrong, but in my experience, all of the stop and go cars had the little round button sensors on the front bumpers.

If this is indeed the reason, i can't see ford being able to change code to allow it. We may just have to wait for next gen.
