I know this may have Been covered already but I've search all over the threads with no exact answer. My question is

How much power can the 2015 mustang 5.0 stock engine handle ? No forged anything straight from the factory. I plan on making about 660 rwhp am I knocking on the door of having to get a new short block ?

The more concerning point is the oil pump is considered weak so should be a consideration in anyway adding boost or going cams with higher RPM limit.

Because there isn't an exact answer. The opinion on the Internet is that 600-650whp is safe. Some of the major kits get close to this like Whipple's kit. Of course it will depend on your driving too. 650whp car that gets driven back and forth to work with an occasional pull is going to hold up a lot different than a car that is taken to the track often.

I plan to track it every now and then but the car is usually a garage princess it's been boosted for a year now and only has 3000 miles it's not a daily driver by any means but when I do drive it I love to be WOT a lot

oil pump gears and timing gear and 700 or less should last a while.

you should be able to go there without issue as long as fuel is good

Keep away from the rev limiter and keep good fuel in it and 600-650 is doable for a long time...usually.

Personally I think 650rwhp is pushing dangerous territory. For a drag car everything else needs extensive upgrades or you'll be busting something every time out. For a road track car; one you don't need that kind of hp; and two won't be able to run it because you won't be able to keep the car cool. For the street it is simply unusable except for some very rare occasions.

But does the Whipple kit pretty much not take all cars to 650rwhp area, especially with throttle body upgrade?

Why don't you think you will be able to keep the car cool? I'm in the 650rwhp range, and my car is a street car. Never have over heating issues, and floor it like once or twice a week, little spurts on the highway, sometimes some launches on back roads.

I've already upgraded my oil pump gears so I'm guessing I should be fine then ?
