Since this section hasn't been used yet and a number of cars have been delivered with thousands coming in the next couple months, I thought it would be good to create a stickied thread with existing issues that new owners are seeing.

This is not about long term issues, it's intended to be more of a check these or make sure dealer fixes these issues at or around pickup. Currently it seems to be small alignment issues but a summary and pictures where appropriate would help the community.

I agree. I would have to go back and find all the sources and if they've been solved but so far I've heard of:

Hood latch issues
Panel alignment issues
Hood alignment issues
Hood flex issues (possibly still related to alignment)
Non-matching lighted sill plates (possibly some defective LEDs?)
Odd sounds from some manual transmissions
from what I've seen I think that covers it so far. We need a sticky thread and hopefully some picks where applicable. I'm hopefully 3-4 weeks away and these will be things to look out for

I think the corner of the rear bumper was an issue... My car was built before OKTB so it should have gone through QC. This is what I have noticed thus far.

Got some bad news from my end. This is what I've been noticing for the past 500 miles:

I got the car with 6.5 miles and now have ~500 miles on the car. I've been noting down how the car has been behaving for the past 500 miles that I have been driving it and I've noticed the following out of which one I feel is very important:

1. The day I got the car everything seemed to be fine but the next day the car starting showing slight problems. First the driver side window does not go up properly. When I hit the button to have the window go up automatically it goes all the way up to the top and the comes back down again and never closes. I tried it countless times and it does the same thing. The only way to have the window go up is push it up incrementally with the button.

2. The speaker system works fine at low volumes but when I put it up a little where there a song that has bass in it there is a vibration from the drive side speakers (can't point out which one) as if something is loose and vibrating against something because of the bass.

3. This is the one that bothers me the most. While I'm driving if I put the clutch it while shifting gear the RPM's say in one place for 2 secs and then drop down to normal again. Example, (I tried this multiple times as well) I'm driving on the highway and I'm in 6th gear, when I put the clutch in and the car is coasting the RPM's drop to 2K and stay there for 2 secs and then start to drop down normally. Same thing happens if I get on the gas a little bit and push the clutch in the RPMs stay in that location that I let off for 2-3 secs and then drop back down again. This worries me since it is a brand new car and I feel like it shouldn't be behaving this way. Not sure if the ECU is causing this for emissions purposes and if a tune can fix this problem?

4. The transmission makes a "thud" noise when I push it into 1st gear if I'm at a stop and you can notice the vibration throughout the cabin. Multiple people have noticed it and pointed it out while riding along with me. It does that slightly between gears when I'm shifting but that has gotten a little better than before.

Besides those 4 things everything else about the car is great and there are no problems. It's unfortunate that I had to come across these problems (maybe I'm being too picky but that's how I am when it comes to cars I notice every detail.) Any feedback from anyone would be appreciated or if anyone else has noticed anything like this in their cars it would be great to hear from you as well. I'll keep y'all posted. I've contacted Ford Service on the forums about this and I'll also be emailing my dealer and salesman about this.

The windows do that on my 2013 and i think its just a mustang thing. As well with the speakers (base shaker?) My drivers side speaker is about done in for and it is hardly EVER up loud.

as well as the THUD, it might just need breaking into? Maybe try switching drive modes to help with that RPM costing

Oh ok yea the windows used to do the same thing in my last stang but it started working fine on its own later lol.

The thud did become better between gears but still is there mostly in 1st gear. Hoping that's all breaking in territory.

For the RPMs good call I will go out tonight and test the different driving modes to see if there is a change at all. I will keep you all posted about the updates and what I notice.

I don't know if it's the same thing but my current Genesis does the same thing. I've been told it's for emissions and with the available ECU tune it goes away. I don't know if it's the same with the Mustang.

Could very well be that it's doing it because of emissions and I guess I won't be able to tell until tunes are out and after taking the car out to see if the different driving modes has an effect. Hopefully it's nothing serious lol.

I tried the different driving modes all of them are the same. The RPM's act exactly as I described, hoping it will go away or that the ECU is doing it for emissions purposes.

My 350Z had a similar issue with the auto-up window feature.

On my car (and I think all cars with the auto-up feature), there is a pinch-detection algorithm that monitors the window motor current and the window position. If the motor current spikes before the window is fully closed, the car thinks it is pinching someone and then automatically opens again. There is typically a calibration routine that sets the sensor position when the window is closed so the car no longer thinks it is pinching someone.

I lived with the issue on my Z for about 160,000 miles, and eventually when the window motor started to go I had new ones installed and during the installation process the shop re-calibrated the sensors and now the window works fine. I bet the dealer can fix the window calibration, possibly with some non-invasive homing sequence.

Regarding the engine hang, I suspect it is normal and due to emissions requirements. Would be interesting to see of others have similar behavior.

The transmission thunk is likely due to the syncros helping with the gear engagement. It's possible that a high quality fluid will reduce the effect, or maybe some alignment could improve things. If it is really bothersome I might change the fluid relatively soon (maybe after 10,000 miles, just to see if things improve over time), but I probably wouldn't want the dealer tearing into my transmission unless the problem was really bad.

Hey man thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. The window thing makes sense I am just going to have Ford recalibrate it but it's not a huge issue for me. As far as the rev hang is concerned I had a feeling it was emissions related and I'm glad to hear other people point to the same reason.

I'll definitely try changing the trans fluid out after a little while and am hoping it's just the breaking in process and will go away with more driving. Hopefully it's nothing more than an alignment issue (hoping that's worse case). Yea I was thinking about it for a while I really don't want them messing with the trans and pulling it out. Luckily one of the members on this forum is getting theirs today or tomorrow from the same dealership and he's going to see if his car does similar things or not. Let's see what happens I'm hoping for the best lol :D

Mine is doing the same thing, Demon. Doesn't seem to be related to the clutch as much as the transmission or maybe even the driveshaft from what I can tell so far.... The more I drive it and listen, the more I think it may be in the transmission itself. The gears are pretty noisy and if you push the clutch in while going down the road and move the shifter back and forth from 3rd to 4th, you definitely hear the "thud" sound repeatedly. I wonder if others are having the same issue with theirs.

Yessir, we aren't the only ones experiencing this.

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php/s550-accidents-damages-4961p5.html

If you go down to the last 5-6 posts between me, Sasuketr and JoeDogInKc you will see they are experiencing it too. According to them and others it seems like it could just be a break in thing and will go away overtime, I hope. I'm too scared to go to ford and have them pull the trans out and put it back in again. Mine seemed to have gotten slightly better so I'm hoping with more driving it will go away.

Try this:

Open the window fully. Now close the window, holding the switch all the way to till the window is up. When the window gets to the top, continue to hold the switch for a slow 5-count. Now open the window the same way - hold the switch all the way to the bottom and continue to hold it for a 5-count.

This is how it works on my '06 Mustang. Every couple of months it will start to do that "bounce back" thing, and I have to recalibrate the upper and lower positions again. It does it way more on the driver's window than the passenger one, but that is the one I use the most, so.....

Thanks for the info my friend I will give this a try and hopefully it re-calibrates it on my 15' as well. You're right for me it has happened on the driver side so far and it used to happen in my previous 2010 mustang as well, but that kinda fixed itself somehow lol.
