Steering wheels

Need some input. Im thinking of going with a new wheel for myCalifornia Special. Carbon and leather. Red stitching. Prices are all over the place. What's the difference between spending 300 bucks or 1800 bucks? I see that they all use your original bag and controls. So why the price difference? I was assuming the 12-1800 included all the controls. Plus, my car has a heated wheel. Not a deal breaker as I live in SC.

I Purchased a carbon fiber/leather steering wheel for my 2020 GT on Amazon significantly cheaper than I could find it through any other vendor. The quality is very good. It came stripped of buttons, those all swapped over from my factory steering wheel with no issues. I have a feeling that many of these steering wheels are made overseas and just rebranded here by other companies at higher prices.

I'm going with Zen Carbon Fiber, for all the options I want, it comes out to $538.00. I've seen nothing but great reviews of their stuff.

So why the price difference?

Because people will pay .....You're wise to ask. Attached is a description filled with lies, the actual steering wheel was dropped shipped from the same Chinese source that probable produces the vast majority of aftermarket steering wheels. It had a casting defect (definitely not an OEM core) the retailer didn't know or care about and they wouldn't process a return so, fortunately, my credit card company took care of it. That same wheel is also available (in limited options) through house brands like CJ Pony Part's Accelatec for about $250? or direct through Amazon and eBay sellers for similar cheap pricing. Maybe if you can talk directly with retailers that are honest about how they produce their custom wheels from actual Ford cores, it might be worth the premium pricing?

Beith Performance gets a lot of great reviews here, check them out. They’re on the higher end of the pricing spectrum but everyone says the fitment is spot on and quality is great

If I had to guess, the quality of the leather and carbon might matter. I could be wrong. I've had mine on since the car was new, and the carbon fiber/leather steering wheel still looks new.

I have the red-stitched heated $300 Amazon wheel and although it was a bit of a pain to install because of the limited space to run the heating wire, I love it.
