Cleaned the alcantara steering wheel. Holy cow. I gotta wash my hands more. I use mild soap on a soaked microfiber towel and rubbed it pretty good. I then took a dry microfiber towel and got it as dry as I could.

I always keep a pack of Fast Orange wipes in the door storage bin to clean my hands.

Is soap ok to use on alcantara?

I just spray Sonax onto a Fast Orange wipey and rub the alcantara

I was amazed at how much the water turned brown when I rinsed the towel that applied the soap. Eww!

That sounds right. I have the 350R wheel in my GT and have had other cars/things that are Alcantara/suede, and my experience has been that you’d have to use something pretty strong (stronger than should be used if being honest) to start pulling the dye out of the Alcantara. I try to clean mine every few thousand miles to keep it looking fresh and have not had any dye transfer to-date

Whatever you use, do not use chemicals that leave behind deposits/residue. Soap does and it will clog the fibers in time. Also do not get it soaking wet. In other words make sure you wipe off as much as you can. Do not manhandle the fabric when you wipe it off or you might stretch it in time. I use a microfiber cloth.
The Sonax Alcantara cleaner works well but I do not really know how well it does with residue over the long run. When not super dirty I found this tidbit from back in the day on a Ferrari forum when Ferrari used to recommend ethyl alcohol for light cleaning. It really works well as long as things are not too dirty.
