Steeda Progressive Spring review

Dont we just love NY roads, i never had this happen and i tried ecer progessive spring on the market, i bet you have a non PP car right? The base shocks can not handle our roads you will eventually kill them quick around here

Yes it's a GT premium non pp. I'm waiting to see if anyone comes out with shocks

I pulled my front wheels and have same issue. More on the drivers side.

I wonder if this is due to the type of roads. I live in northern VA and drive in DC / Baltimore all the time.

Why does it only impact a few of us?

Not sure why not everyone has it. I would put a silencer right on that second coil from the top. It should cover the wear marks on the first and third coil. You seem to have worse wear than I did. Maybe you've had them on your car longer I'm not sure. Let me know if you do put the silencers on and if it works for you.

Guys I fixed it! 100% no noise now. I tried tightening the strut nut on top and checked the end link nuts(they were tight). Still had noise. The springs were touching when hitting bumps. I bought some Tein silencers and put them on the springs and the noise is gone. It can be done with the springs still on the car. Just look at the spring for any wear marks and move your hand along the whole thing to feel for any wear. Make sure you don't put 2 silencers above and below each other. I used a silencer at the top of the spring and cut another into smaller pieces and placed them where I saw wear marks. Tein silencers. $5 a pair. Get a pair for each side(even tho only my passenger side clunked). I see some people had noise on drivers side and some people had none. I guess everyone's car is different as far as weight. Also make sure to order the large diameter silencers(130mm). I will also post a few pics.

I also want to say I don't believe this is an issue with steedas quality at all. I love how the car looks with the springs and the ride. I think it's just the nature of progressive springs.

Thank you. I am in for a cheap fix. I was about to take to ford for them to pull the springs and reinstall. This saved me a few hundred bucks

Try the ford racing shocks so far they work great around here but im on linear springs

I have had them on for about 2500 miles I think.

I will definitely report back.

I was just thinking about it. Not sure if this is possible but maybe the people with noise have over tightened the strut nut on top. This would most likely put more pressure on the springs which would make them compress closer and hit each other. I started thinking about this when I tightened the strut nut and actually noticed there was a little more noise than I had in the first place. Either way the silencers fixed it.

But then again I think with the threads it can only really get so tight. So I guess it just comes down to the non pp shocks combined with bad roads.

I like your theory. Keep in mind I have the PP shocks and struts.

I tightened line with an electric impact...perhaps too tight?

Nope, we checked all of our vehicles when we first heard of a noise and no marks whatsoever.

We put our vehicles through very rigorous testing. Lots of our customers daily their cars where the roads aren't the best. If you have the PP shocks you would be experiencing coils touching even less or not at all.

Thanks for the info. I am going to check my springs tomorrow. Was about to swap out the springs for another manufacturer.
