Steeda Diff Bushing Insert Question

So looking at the install instructions for the Diff bushing inserts, what purpose do the replacement 14mmx65mm bolts serve. If I'm reading right you just remove the old one and replace with the new one. The other bolts replace the bolts for the differential bushing. I can't figure out these 2 though.

There are three sets of bolts. Medium and shorts ones are for the front mount. Then kinda sandwich the bushing. The poly bushing goes on the gas tank side using the short bolt. The medium bolts just replace the stock bushing bolts. They are shorter so that there is room to install the short bolts into the other side.

As Ajax said. Instead of 1 long bolt that goes all the way through, it's 2 shorter bolts that meet in the middle. 1 bolt replaces the original 1 going from the back to the front and holds in that disc on the back of the bushing. The other bolt goes in that same hole but goes from the front towards that back, the other end of that bushing and holds the disc on the front of the bushing so you have 1 on each side.

I scratched my head on that 1 too. Took me a while to figure out what they were trying to do there.

So we all know if you have gear whine, these bushings will make it worse right. Okay so using them for street use everyone is running the red bushings mostly. I am wondering if anyone is running only two of the four bushings to help with noise OR if anyone has drilled holes in the bushings to help. Let us know how it went if tried

Thread from the dead!

1) Short bolt front side of front bushing with the insert (do not overtorque)
2) Second shortest bolt rear-side of front bushing, no insert
3) Longest bolt is for the rear, don't forget the insert

Note:
The inserts are not the same front and back to ensure they fill as much gap as possible. Test fit them before committing to ensure they fall into place.

I think if you already have gear whine, anything you do to stiffen it up will just transfer that much more noise. It seems like this is a common problem with manuals. In my auto, I have no noise at all and I'm using the red Steeda differential bushing inserts.

You can run 2 of the 4. I would put the 2 in the rear bushings, personally, but I'm not sure it matters. I suppose you can drill holes in them if you want, but I really don't think you'll need to nor do I think it'll make enough difference as the size hole you'd need to drill to have any affect would be fairly large. NVH with the red bushings isn't constant - just when you put the car into gear, you may hear a slightly more pronounced clunk (if you already had a clunky drivetrain, like me). Other than that, it's not constant gear whine - at least it wasn't on my car and my car had a noisy driveline since day one. I have the aluminum inserts now and it's not that bad...

the BMR kit comes with 95 inserts and the Steeda comes with 80 and 95. So my question... Is there a big difference in NVH between the 80 and 95? I have the BMR and removed it due to gear whine and just wondered if I found some 80s from a steeda kit if it would still transmit as much noise.

Referring to the Steeda kit, a slight difference in NVH between the red and black.
We have yet to see a S550 react the same from car to car. At times we will get no NVH increase. Gear clang will increase slightly which is normal.

I put Steeda's black bushings on the rear only and left the fronts OE, I can hear some whine in 6th @75+ but I have to shut off everything and really listen for it. But then I have a hearing disability from Mil service, so...

*I didn't want to mess with changing the fronts.
