I'm wondering what the differences in IATs will be. I mentioned before that the JLT has that channel right along the tube where it isn't sealed from the engine bay and that heat can crossover. My IATs with it were sky high. I bought the foam insert hoping it would help. But there was nothing noticeable. I like the Steeda because it is fully sealed. But I noticed that it isn't completely plastic. So I wonder if the aluminum piece can get hot enough that it'll increase the IATs.

Has it worked better than the JLT (in regards to IAT)?

Can't comment on Steeda or JLT but I have the 350 CAI and its IAT's are pretty much on par with the stock CAI, it seals very well against the hood. :)

If you are tuned it shouldn't matter much at all. You can pretty much kill IAT vs spark retard in the tune with no knock issues if base spark is where it should be.

I just installed a Steeda no-tune CAI 2 weeks ago. Work great, looks great, sounds great. I did drop one of the 4 tiny screws that mount the tube/filter to the air box. Does anyone know if they sell them?

In testing we found the production air box to heat soak at idle and take longer to get within ambient air temps at cruise. Furthermore, at cruise speed we have found to run within 4 to 5 degrees above ambient, which is what a production box will indicate. The Steeda cold air intake flows more than production due to the larger tube radius and larger bell mouth entry.

Sorry for the delayed reply. It was on a custom tune with a GT350 IM and the stock t-stat.

While that is true, still, cooler air means more power. When my IATs are twice the ambient temps with one cai vs about 5%-10% higher than ambient temps with a different cai, that says something. I don't like seeing 130-140 degree IATs on a 70 degree evening.
