We've never had a problem with S&B, and the oil is what stops the dirt! We have the filter made to our exact specifications.

Personally, I clean the air filter every other oil change or twice a year.

Also, if you buy an extra filter, you can always have a fresh/clean one and never have to worry about the oil being dry again. That's what a bunch of our customers do.

Agreed, I ran an oiled K&N filter on my Evo for 6 years and never had MAF issues. When the filter started to look dirty I'd clean it. Very simple to do and doesn't take a lot of time.

nothing wrong with Oiled filters. I've never had a MAF problem. neither do most other people who know not to spray a gallon on the filter.. The biggest thing is don't just throw the filter right back on after cleaning and oiling. let it sit somewhere for 30-40 minutes preferably in the sun so it dries up enough.

You have to modify the stock intake to install the Steeda.

Can you please explain in a bit more detail what part of the stock intake that needs to be modified? Is it the air inlet piece at the grill?

You saw off the resonator on the stock feed. The CAI comes with a plug for the hole. Check below at the 3 min mark.

Happy I went with it! I bought another filter to swap out when the other one is dirty and requires cleaning. Plan on swapping/cleaning every 5000.

Great. I see you went with a tune, did you first run it without a tune? I ask because I'll probably start out this way and was wondering about the power gains using the insert.

I bought the both the intake and an SCT X4 from Steeda at the same time. It came with the tunes for life program. I waited for the tune from Steeda via e-mail before installing the CAI so I never bothered with the insert.

What I can say is if I had to decide between only the intake or only the tune, I'd take the tune. It really transforms the Mustang into a proper muscle car.

Reducer was a bitch to push in, gonna have to tap it out with a hammer and block of wood when I eventually get a tune.
IATs rise quick when stopped, but they drop quick too. I work with plastics and such all the time so I might make a lid for it.
Not sure it gets the advertised gains BUT to me the increased throttle response is well worth it alone. Th car feels much smoother and better off the line. There was always a lag when first touching the gas but it is gone now. This I am very happy with. I would always put the car in sport mode the moment I started it up because of the better throttle response but now I don't have to.

You are correct the inlet air temps drop much quicker with the Steeda CAI.

The reason for that is the stock box gets heat soaked and retains heat for a longer period of time.

Don't waste your time on a lid, at idle the temps are pretty close to the same as a Steeda CAI. You may create the heat soak dilemma and restrict air flow if you do build a lid.

Did you use some motor oil on the O-rings as I suggested in the first post? Mine went in really easily when I did that.

Not enough I guess LOL. I'm sure it will dry up and that reducer will be tough to get out. Nothing a block of wood and mallot won't take care of though.
I am really happy with this thing. People say there is no difference with aftermarket intakes, but my car drives much better now. I put 10 k miles on it so I would say I am used to it too and would notice any difference. Now I need to get that damn sound tube out! I don't have the balls to just rip it out and I can't even see the little 10mm nut let alone get to it

The sound tube is hell! Most people are just ripping it out now instead of getting the 10mm nut off like I did.... Was the worst thing on my car to do
