Been having an intermittent issue where I get in the car to start it up. All the electric comes on normally. I press the starter button I'll hear a few clicks but that's about it engine won't turn over. The starter isn't even engaging the flywheel.

If I hit the starter button again same thing happens. Today I hit the start button enough to trigger the engine crank limit exceeded warning. I also saw an intermittent service charging system now warning . Mind you the engine wasn't even turning over.

This seems to only happen when the car is hot and has been driven.. I've never had it happen when the car is cold.

I have had a few electrical gremlins in the car due to a messed up wiring harness but that stuff was fixed. I really hope this is just a faulty starter and not more electrical BS.

I did have the battery checked the auto parts store and it tested ok.

I have an appointment at the dealership next week to get it looked at. Does this sound familiar to anyone anyone had this problem?

Thanks for any feedback

Can't say I've had this issue on my 350, but I did have the same issue and symptoms 6 years back with my Tiburon. I ended up swapping out my crank position sensor and throttle position sensor as they were both bad and the ECU was having a hard time figuring out what was actually going on. TPS was reading 90% throttle prior to startup with no input, and the ECU was cutting the fuel pump and keeping my starter from engaging as a failsafe. Only happened when she was hot though. Not saying this is your issue by any means, but may give you somewhere to start.

@Zitrosounds had a similar issue, check with him.

I believe he replaced the pedal position sensor? Or something like that.

Just got my car back from the dealer for the exact same thing. Car won't start sometimes when the car is fully warmed up. Never a problem for cold starts. They replaced the starter button, which didn't solve it. They ended up just replacing the starter. We'll see if replacing the starter actually solves it when I drive it the next few days. The worst is when your $50k Mustang won't start up at a busy gas station.

When it was all said and done the actual failure was the clutch position switch which there are two of. One is for engagement and the other is for disengagement. The one that failed is called the starter interrupter switch. If it fails it does not allow the store to get electricity and your car will not start. I also had a wiring problem however it was self-induced. I had a tiny little amplifier wire which was pulling too much amperage from the body control module and it was also part of my failure. However once I removed the the app and the switch was replaced all has been good.

I dropped the car off at the service department today. Hopefully they can figure it out.

I'll know for sure by the end of this week. Problem usually pops up every day I get the car fully warmed up, but so far so good! Hopefully it's just the starter for you and they can swap it out for you. Be forewarned, the dealer didn't get any error codes, they were just at the end of the line of things to do in regards to the problem, so the foreman just went ahead and got the starter replaced.

I just got my car back from the dealer. They found a loose positive battery terminal post. Not the cable but the actual post that comes out of the battery. The battery was also leaking acid apparently. They replaced the battery and drove the car around a bunch and could not reproduce the problem after that so hopefully that's the fix. Kind of makes me wonder if all of my electrical problems this entire time we're related to a broken battery post causing intermittent electrical bullshit that two other dealerships failed to recognize. Well hopefully it's solved.

I had this problem shortly before they changed the battery, and still had it after also. Hopefully that fixed it for you

Did your battery test bad or was it showing visible damage or did they just replace it for good measure? How is your starter replacement working out ?

Apparently they got a code for a bad battery, and swapped it out. New starter is working out great. Problem would of showed up by now, so I'm confident it's all resolved now. Thanks for asking
