So I purchased the 5Spurs start button. I saw the install video and it 'seems' pretty straight forward. Those of you that have installed a new start button, are there any tips or techniques you want to share? I don't want to F anything up.

I replaced mine and used a small flat head screw driver (I had 1 for glasses), wrapped it in Teflon tape and, wedged in the corner and popped out the existing button. You'll probably have to do this in a couple places to loosen. Then popped on the new one. It took 5 mins and there was no damage at all to the surrounding area.

I did make 1 mistake though, I had my key in my pocket and turned the power on in the car a couple times.

Do like the instructions say and unhook the negative battery terminal....you'll have to reset a few of your dash options, etc....but still a good idea to unhook. I used an angled o'ring pick...worked perfectly to get behind the stock button...takes a pretty good tug to pop it loose. Then just push the new one in place. Pretty slick and I had custom lettering on mine, so it personalized the button to my car.

Rule no. 1 - don't take the key with you in the car.
Removing the old button is easy and goes exactly as shown in the video.
Installing the new one takes a bit of patience, because it's so precisely cut that perfect alignment is paramount. It will not click fully into place unless the hole is absolutely perfectly aligned with the LED - which will take several attempts.

All good information from everyone. Much appreciated. I will attempt it this weekend and all should go well.

Mask off the area around the button with painters masking tape, so you don't slip and scratch the dash. Then use a small pick.

Sometimes it may feel like the button has clicked into place even though it actually hasn't. If something looks even vaguely amiss, then it probably is. When installed correctly the button is perfectly straight, and the LED fills the hole completely and is perfectly flush with the surface of the button.

It pops off like a keyboard button, easy. Good videos on it too.

That looks nice.
Thank you.
I wish I could take the credit for that, but I must confess the pony wasn't my idea. I had actually ordered the standard "POWER" version, with an on/off symbol, like the one in Nick's picture. The pony was an unexpected bonus. :)

I like the pony. Did they just do that as a custom one? I didn't see it as an option.
