I think you are asking about shifter position S vs. toggle to Sport+
What I have noticed when in shift position Sthe paddle shifters, once engaged override the auto-fuctions for upshift and downshift while indicating gear position in the gauge cluster.
Using only Sport+ you engage the automatic, but can still use paddles, the auto will take over if shift points demand.
Not sure what advantage there is to having shifter in S and also toggled to Sport+. Perhaps someone will chime in.
