"Spectre" brand CAI?

Hello all,

Does anybody have any experience with this brand of intakes? It looks a little suspicious, being $150 and looking like a "I bought this for my civic from JC Whitney cuz it looks cool and the box said 10 horsepower" kind of intakes, but functionally, is it terrible? The reviews don't say much.. Can anybody help me out?

There is nothing wrong with Spectre piping (depending on which piping you get). Their aluminum piping is pretty well made, however their "chrome" plastic piping leaves a lot to be desired and has sharp bends internally (even though they look nicely bent on the outside). Truth be told you are better off just getting a tune first. The stock airbox is pretty darn good to the point where even 5.0 users are ditching their CAIs and going back to the stock box. The stock box already draws "cold air". If you want an "upgrade" throw an AFE or AEM dryflow panel filter in and call it good. By the way your car looks awfully familiar. ;)

Thank you so much for the reply, and I like you're taste in mustangs ! I've read too about how the factory air box is already fine, a tune will be in line then... Maybe this intake at least helps the Cyclone sing a little better. That would be worth 150 haha.

Harmonics is the only thing an intake will change. If you must have one then I suggest you get one of the "closed" ones like the Corsa, C&L, or the Air Raid to help with lower IATs. One of the best benefits of the stock box is consistent low IATs. Heat soak is no fun on drag/track days. Use that almost $400 on a tune or putting it towards improving the IRS will be a much better bang for your buck for performance IMHO.

haha its cool I found this post I came across a spectre intake for about the same price. If I don't go with jlt I might go with its one for the price.

Yea I agree. Personally I think the intake is a waste of money unless you're buying it for the sound. I kept the stock airbox and installed K&N panel filter and even that improved the sound. So why do you prefer AFE or AEM over K&N? Is it because the K&N is an oiled filter? Oh and by the way guys I drive a Triple Yellow Cyclone too

Yes there should be a slight improvement in sound with the dry flow.

I'm not sure but I might pull the trigger on the spectre cai. I've been waiting to see if someone sold a used jlt intake or other more known brand. If I do purchase it I will post a video
