2019 Bullitt.
A while back I had used FORScan to remove the exhaust sounds piped through the speakers. I could still hear the exhaust but it was only coming from the back where I expect to hear it. So much better to me.
I just had some new speakers installed. So, I figured that I’d have the shop install some sound deadening material to the doors and the top of the rear parcel shelf (or deck lid) where the rear speakers reside.
I never knew how much I enjoyed and relied on the sounds that came into the cabin before the sound deadening material was installed. I can still hear the exhaust but it’s really muffled now. I also can’t hear my engine rev nearly as well and that’s causing issues for me. I usually drive by sound for normal city driving. Now, I can’t hear the engine revs nearly as much and it’s actually making shifting slightly more difficult for me and definitely not as fun. I could always look at the tach but I’m so used to just using my ear. It has actually taken away a lot of my enjoyment when driving my car. I have to get it back to where it was before.
I DO NOT look forward to removing it. I know it’s such a pain - but I have to do it.
So, if you're going to add sound deadening material, then think of the pros and cons and everything it will impact. I didn't realize it would be such a big deal to me.
End of baby cry rant.
Live and learn, I guess.
